Doug, just wanted to let you and your wife, and especially Hannah, know that my daughter had moyamoya surgery at BCH with Dr. Scott. He is awesome!
Because BCH does many (compared with other hospitals) moyamoya surgeries, they really know how to take care of kids with this disease. The anesthesia protocal for all moyamoya surgery was developed at BCH, as well.
Since they usually do both sides at once there, you can expect a lot of swelling that will take several days to go down. Just wanted to warn you because it's hard to see your little girl like that.
My daughter is in 5th grade now, and doing very well. She plays basketball and swims and is just as active as before all this started.
I understand what you mean about wanting to schedule the surgery. Once you make a decision like that you want to get it over with.
Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, I'll be happy to try and answer. And speaking of answering questions, Dr. Scott has always replied promptly to any e-mail I sent him. Because we are within 2 hours of Boston, we see him once a year for follow up. Maddie gets a quick check up and then she, her older sister and I go shopping!
