My daughter had 4 strokes before she was diagnosed she was given blood thinners, thats how she did not have anymore in the about month and a half before she had her first surgery. I dont understand how he can say no more strokes will happen unless she is on blood thinners. When my daughter was diagnosed in Phila. they said they know the most about MM in japan beacause it is perdominant in Japanese people so Japan may work better for your situation. We sent Mandy's catscans and angiogram to Steinberg and he knew weather and what surgery Mandy needed he called over the phone and talked to us about it. When we went to CA. she got a spec scan before surgery its a 2 part test no biggy you just have to stay very still, Mandy had to be sedated because of tremors and involuntary movement from the strokes which she now does not have. A spec scan shows exactly how the blood is flowing through the brain and they can tell exactly what bloodvessels to use for the surgery. Some doctors do both sides of the brain at once some do one then a week later the other. We felt safer with the one side then the other. There is alot of information on the internet about MM I'm sure you've read. Anymore question please ask. Good Luck I'm sure you'll make the right decisions. Keep me informed!
