Hi Julie,

I'm so sorry for all that you are going through. I too had (still have) financial difficulties from the whole Moya Moya experience. Mine was a little different though because I didn't know how I was going to pay for the surgery etc. because no insurance will carry me anymore due to other medical problems I have. Yet, I couldn't seem to get disability either. It's a tough spot I know! Do you have any family that can help you out for awhile?- I know it's difficult to ask! Also check out Catholic Charities (even if you aren't Catholic) or other churches. Why can't/won't the children's fathers help out, especially financially? Even if you don't qualify for disability, isn't there a way that you could at least get food stamps? Contact your village/city hall office. Many times they have some sort of emergency assistance for residents. Unfortunately I don't have any great advice. I felt like I was in a no-win situation but everything is coming together in the end. I think that you are doing the best possible thing though by having the surgery. Somehow things will work out (also you may find that you don't need to take as much time off of work as you thought) but if you don't have the surgery..well you know the possible consequences of that choice too. You won't be much good for your kids if you end up having a major stroke or, even worse, dead.

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lisa
