Hello...first, I want to thank DJ for this wonderful site and all of you for sharing your stories. I've been reading about your lives, so I thought I would share my story. I've recently been diagnosed with Moyamoya (in July 2003). I had a stroke symptoms on my right side in June and my doctor sent me for an MRI originally to rule out MS. When the results came back abnormal I was sent to see a neurologist (I'm seeing Dr. Liebeskind at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania). My neuro confirmed that what I had was, in fact, a stroke (I have no lingering affects or damage, luckily) and that I had a silent stroke some time before...so June was actually my second Stroke. Since then, I've gone for a second MRI and an MRA and just on Wednesday I had my angiogram. The MRI/MRA showed that my right MCA is completely narrowed and the left is almost completely narrowed but my doc said that my case is NOT accute - how could that be?? I've had 4 small "episodes" (2 on the right, 2 on the left) that have lasted from just a few minutes to a few hours. I have an appointment with my neuro on Wednesday (tomorrow) to discuss the results of my angio and to go over my options. Right now, I seem to be doing well on low dose aspirin. By the way, I have gone for a second opinion and plan on going to a 3rd.
