Mandy rolled out of the pre-op room at 7:15am this morning for her second surgery on her right side. Dr. Steinberg said the porcedure itself didn't take as long as the first surgery, but the overall process took about an hour longer than the first one.

He said it took a little bit longer to get her "prepped" for this one and a little bit longer to cool her down (which added a little bit of time).

He said the graft went fantastic and the artery was huge... even larger than the first surgery! Everything went exactly as it should have and there were no problems! He said it should make a WORLD of difference to her recovery from the strokes.

Dr. Steinberg was called to an emergency aneurysm between Mandy and Amber's surgery, so Amber's got pushed back even farther.

They rolled Mandy out of surgery and to the ICU at around 3:30pm. She was still asleep, but looked good. Mark, Nancy, and Ed were waiting to see her in the ICU when I ran upstairs to be with Amber...

Amber didn't get rolled out of her pre-op towards the OR until 4:35pm. She was a little nervous (obviously), but handling everything like a champ! At age 11, she's probably doing better at all of this than I did at the age of 36! LOL Don't expect to see her until 10-11:30pm CA time tonight. I came back to catch a quick nap and will go back in a bit to see how everything is going. Will update you again soon...
