Title: SC Girl
Post by DJ on Jul 7th, 2004 at 12:38pm
Kris (SC Girl) is having her second surgery TODAY on her birthday!  I didn't add her surgery to the calendar because I wasn't able to talk to her about it.

I just wanted to let everyone know to be thinking and praying for her on this very special day in her life!  She's having her right side done at Emory University in Atlanta.

Kris's cousin emailed me and told me that her surgery went well. She had a little bit more bruising, but i think most of us can relate to that.

Happy Birthday Kris!

[smiley=wave.gif]  Hi Kris and Happy Birthday!!  Not the best way to spend a birthday, but then again, since it sounds like the surgery went well, what better present?  Hope you recover quickly and then can really celebrate your birthday in style, since you probably won't remember much of today!![smiley=laugh.gif] I'll keep you in my prayers!  Best wishes,  Tricia

;;DWay to go Kris!!  Sounds like you will be going home tomorrow!  From what babyblue says, you had a pretty easy time of it!!  Sorry it had to be on your birthday though!  Maybe before long, you can get home and celebrate both your birthday and your surgery being over with!!!!  The best birthday present ever!!  Prayers are with ya.

Congratullation on your second surgery and happy birthday.  I know the surgery wasn't the best birthday present but you will feel better.  I had my second surgery Tuesday before last and I am already feeling really good.  Good luck and may God Bless you.

HI!  It's me,
It's Sunday night and this recovery is proving to be very different from the left side.  Thanks to all of you for the Birthday Wishes and your concern and prayers.  I've had several small TIAs which, as you know, are unnerving, and a few left side "weirdnesses" and some strange left side mouth/tongue issues with food, but otherwise, I'm doing pretty well.  I'm hopeful that I will feel even stronger in time after this right side op than I already felt after the left!  ;)

Christy and Diane, I'll try to send an email to you both maybe tomorrow.
Love [smiley=heart.gif]

Hi SC-GIRL,
I'm 'itsme' I was diagnosed with MM about 7 years ago
after series of TIA's....Anyway to make a long storyshort,
I decided to get the surgery done on 6/21st at Stanford.
I was being followed by UCLA but I decided to go see Dr.
Steinberg and the Stanford Team was awesome. Any way, I was in denial....but I began to LISTEN TO MY BODY and it was saying to me" GIVE ME MORE WATER."
Sure enough my right side is 8 (10) being worst. It means time for me to get NEW SPRINKLERS put in.

Being a diabetic I was scared to get this BY PASS but looks like I HAVE NO CHOICE. SC-GIRL, I'm just scared I
will have TIA/Stroke because of the bypass, since I am
TIA free for the past 7 years (although now my arms and
legs feel weak sometimes).

I also, hear so much about this HEADACHE after the bypass...How did you prevail???? I've never had headaches with my MM so I don't want them after the
BP, too.

I'm also do back to WORK after 4 weeks off. Do you think
that's enough time? How was your recovery?

Again, thank you for sharing and congradulations on your road to recovery.

LOL,
itsme

itsme,
Just posted today about my 1year post surgery anniversary.  Did you get to read it?  It should give you hope that everything will be alright in the long run.  To answer your questions, I never had headaches prior to my stroke and TIAs either.  This is why it was so difficult to be diagnosed. The only headache I had after surgery was in ICU, and the percoset (pain killer) took care of that during my recovery.  I was fortunate to not have a stroke during or after surgery, and only had a few TIAs immediately after my right side surgery. They were taken care of by being on Plavix (blood thinner) for a short time.
Also, I was able to return to work in 3 weeks.
Hang in there!
SC Girl
(Kris)
