Title: angiogram follow up july 30th
Post by jenna on Jul 11th, 2004 at 10:03am
Well its has been one eventfull year since my surgery and now its time for an angiogram to confirm that I'm not just feeling good, but doing good too.   :)  I'm not exactly looking forward to it  :-/  due to the fact that I haven't been poked or prodded in a year now, but oh well I will build up my tolerance just like last time  8)  I feel great so hopefully this is a sign  ::)

Hi Jenna,

Good luck with your angiogram. I think it’s great that your doctor at least has a follow up process. Believe it or not, I've spoken to many people whose doctor does NOT have any kind of follow up care one year after surgery. The doctors without enough mm experience have said, “Wait and see if symptoms develop". IMO, this disease is one you don’t “wait and see” with! Unfortunately there isn’t a standard procedure established yet with moyamoya and all doctors. I think to learn more about this rare disease the follow up process is essential, even if you’re feeling well.

Good Luck Jenna, keep us posted.

Mar

I wouldn't look forward to it either.  I think it is amazing how certain things just become "normal" when you are afflicted with something like this.  Angiograms and MRI's I guess those will be a part of life for those with MM.
Take care and let us know how it goes.

Hiya Jenna!

Angios suck!  I'll have my 3rd one in October and I'm already dreading it! [smiley=cry2.gif]  Although I have found that they bother me less, head-wise anyway, since I had surgery than before the surgery.  Better blood flow I guess?

Odd question but does anybody else have occassional pain/aches in or around the puncture site?  I find that when I've been on my legs for long periods of time and after running etc., the site bothers me slightly.  Is this normal?

Have fun Jenna! ;)  I hope you get good results!
Lisa

Hey everybody thanks for the anti-angiogram support ;)  it will be ok though, annoying, but ok. Christy~it's gonna be a good week for us, I will keep you in my thoughts. What surgeries did you have by the way?
Lisa~I find I do get kindof soar/tender or something like a headache when I work out a lot it like a pulsating feeling or something, the worst ive found is hats, just cant really do hats for long periods of time.   ::)
well as usual thanks for getting me through  :D

Jenna- my thoughts will be with you as well. I had the STA-MCA bypass this past april. This check-up will be my three month follow-up.  ;;D

Lisa- i think i have the same pain you talked about. I get them usually when i am at work. It does not last long but feels like a sharp pain right near my scars.  :-[

Hey guys, I totally agree about the angios; they stink!  It totally drains me and I see lightening throughout the body!  I totally shocked myself as well as the radiologists who wanted to do an MRI the day after my surgery-I almost fell off the table totally closterphobic(Sp?).  I am for the most part a pretty strong person but maybe the pain meds made me freak. I thought I was an expert by the 4th mri but not quite.  Just keep in mind this is minimal campared to other procedures that others have to go through.  I felt like that I was a bit blessed not to be in so much pain as others were.  Still pretty tramatic but survived.  You guys are the best support group ever.  Kristina

Mandy is clostaphobic and gets sedated for her angios but then you have to get admitted but you can go home in a few hours nothing to strong just enough to get you through it.

Ummm guys.. I don't think I made my question clear.  ::)  My fault as I was trying to be tactful (and less embarrassing!), but what I meant by pain at the puncture site was pain in the ahhhem, you know, the groin area! :-[  Where they puncture you for the angio ya know?  Well, there, now I said it and mine hurts slightly- actually tender is more like it.  I was told upon my first angio 2 years ago that it was probably some slight nerve damage and that it would go away.  It hasn't.  It's nothing I can't live with but just curious if others "puncture site" bothers them too.

Thanks!
Lisa

Lisa,  sometimes my puncture sight hurts also.  I'll get a sharp pain like I've pulled something in that area at times.  Usually its when I'm exercising or bending over or something like that.  Not a terrible pain-just a little nusiance (sp?).  I've wondered if it was from the angios-I've had 3, but didn't know.  Since your post, I figure it probably is due to the angios.  Oh well, just another added benefit of having MM!   ::)  We'll all hang in there I'm sure!!  Tricia :)
