Title: Has anyone had to have repeated surgery?
Post by Michelle on Sep 2nd, 2004 at 9:35pm
My daughter Cally, who is now 14 years old, had surgery on both sides when she was 10.  She is a perfectly normal teenager and has suffered no side effects from Moya-Moya Disease.  She recently had an episode in P.E.  She had ran 8 laps and got really hot.  She got dizzy and her legs and arms were weak.  That didn't alarm me too much but she said that her hand tingled for a few minutes.  This has not happened since she had her surgery in 2001.  Her blood pressure was elevated slightly but I believe this was from panic.  We are scheduled to see Dr. Dauser on Sept. 21.  She has not seen him since her 1 year check-up when she had an arteriogram.  I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen or if the Moya-Moya could return?  I would appreciate anyone giving me their opinion.  Thank you. :)

                                              Sincerely,
                                               Michelle

Michelle:  I see you haven't gotten a reply yet...but I have been reading back posts...all the way back to last year...and I will bump the one up forward "Remoyamoya?"...something for you to read but not sure if it would help but worthwhile to read.

Will keep your daughter, Cally, in my prayers !!!

Tight hugs,  CarasMOM

Hi Michelle,

It is good you got the appointment, so that you can get to the bottom of it.  I think what Carol brought up helps when you read through it.  It helps me in keeping my sanity at time.  My understanding of the disease (not a doctor though) it will completely occlude your carotid arteries on the left and right side.  It never stops until they are completely closed, but your daughter had surgery that bypasses the occluded area of the artery.  Please let us know what you find out on the 21st and take care.

Wayne

Hi!  Thanks for the Remoyamoya post.  It really did help to here from some others that still have symptoms.  It made me feel alot better.  Cally seems to be fine now but I will keep you all posted on her Dr. visit.  Thanks alot.

                                                             Sincerely,
                                                              Michelle
