Title: TIA's slowing down.
Post by CarasMOM on Sep 15th, 2004 at 12:32am
After a week of single TIA's a  day then a week of 3 to 5 TIA's a day...the past two days have been just one.  And she's getting stronger, feeling great...so I know when she has a TIA even though no lasting noticeable damage but it affects "her overall look somewhat" (hard to explain) but kind of like she's affected somewhere, something is not right...but anyway...been 3 weeks since surgery #2 and almost 9 weeks since surgery #1.  I had been putting her in our pool (keeping her head out though) out back (still in the 100 degrees in Arizona) and we have been creating games...doing that for an hour....which her whole body gets exercises  from...seems to soothe her ALOT.  She WANTS to go back to school tomorrow for a little bit to see everyone...I'm thinking about it.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) tight hugs, carasMOM

Carol,

So glad to hear that Cara's TIA's are slowing down!  The one that Tara had really scared us to death . . . I give you credit for getting through the last couple of weeks . . . not that you had a choice, but you know what I mean!

I bet it would do Cara a world of good to see her friends at school, even if it's just for a few minutes.  I know that there's a big age difference, but Tara insisted on attending summer school just 5 days after her return home from surgery #2.  We hesitantly allowed her to go, thinking that she wouldn't last.  Six weeks later, she finished the class with an 'A'!  (It was Algebra 2, and she got a 'C' during the year, so wanted to remediate the grade.  'C's aren't acceptable in her book!)  In hindsight, I believe that it was her way of forcing "normalcy" back into her life.  You'll know best with Cara though - it's just my opinion!

Hugs to you both,

Jill

What a wonderful update.I'm so glad that yo are seeing ehr get stronger and better. Kathleen went to summer school 3 months after her surgeries. It was 1/2 day preschool, and I stayed with her.She wnet for about 3 weeks and then there was an outbreak of head lice.I decided to take her out becasue I just couldn't put her poor little head through what that would invold if she got them. She went to Kind.5 months after surgeries but I went with her a lot and took her home early everyday.Late in the day for kingarden isn't really instructional. When your ready for her to go back I'm sure they would allow you to ease her into it.Glad things are looking better I' sure it's been a long few weeks...

It is nice to see her pull through and get better.  That is always the one thing that pulls us MM through, the fact that it is down hill from here.  It just gets better.
