Title: Kota's Story Post by Cotadad on May 21st, 2005 at 12:36am
Hi everyone,
Well, I have almost completed the translation of Kota's story from Japanese to English, which is located at: http://www.a-pot.com/Moya_English/moya_top_English.htm I am pretty sure that there are some unnatural descriptions, because English is my second language. Nevertheless, I would like you to take a look and I hope it could be of some help for some of you. Also, any comments are more than welcome. Thank you! Cotadad |

Hi Cotadad!
I just read Kota's story - you did a fantastic job! I am pleased you took the time to share it with everyone, and think it will be inspirational to newcomers facing the process of surgery. Thank you, and we'll see you in Vegas (if not before)! Warmly, Jill |

Thank you for sharing your mm experience with us. I loved it. I think you did an amazing job journalizing the entire process. The translation was very well done.
Ya know, I speak of mm, Stanford, Dr. Steinberg, etc, all the time, but I have never experienced any of the process personally, and now you’ve made me feel as though I have. I really thank you for that. What a loving family and I’m so very proud of Kota. What a strong and brave young man. I suppose this experience will only make him stronger as he grows older. God love him! Good job Dad! [smiley=thumb.gif] Mar |

:D Hi Dad, I have been on this site for over 2 years now and that was without a doubt the best MM narative that I've read 8)
Now I want you to march over to your son and tell him that Tom G said that he is an extremely lucky boy to have a father like you! Great job dad! ;;D Tom G. |

Cotadad,
It was very interesting to read someone else's experience with their child and MM. You kept a wonderfully detailed journal of everything, I wished I had done the same for my son. As far as English being your second language: You did a wonderful job! I have worked at a college helping people with their papers and there were very few if any changes I could see making in your story. I have even helped edit a story for publication where English was the second language of the writer. You can be proud of your translation abilities. Rena |

Cotadad,
Your English is wonderful! Thank you for sharing Cota's story... I can identify with a lot of what you went through. I remember how cramped the PICU at Lucille Packard's was - we couldn't wait to get out of there, either. We also had to really go through a lot to get Daphne's Early Intervention services started up again (Early intervention is therapy and "school" in the home for children under three who have developmental delay) First they needed a note from Dr. Steinberg, then her discharge reports, then one of their nurses had to come out to see Daphne -- it took almost two months before Daphne's services were restarted! I'm so glad you insisted on an MRI for Kota, and suspected Moyamoya. He is really lucky that you did all that research :) Jenny |

Thank you so much for all of your encouraging comments!!!
When I started this work, I thought it would take forever. But now it is close to the completion and I feel this is worthwhile doing. As it is still live and ongoing story, I am going to update periodically. So I hope you could visit the site once in a while. ;) Cotadad |

Hello Kota's dad,
"itsme" (Powerranger) YES, you did a great job on Kota's story. My turn is coming up 6/21st and I'm getting a little "waku waku"...although. I should talk to Kota-kun and ask him to give me some of his courage. Ya pari chyo to shin pai desu! ( This means I'm a little worried). Any way, if Kota can take the challenge SO CAN I....Thank you Kota for sharing your story with us. "itsme" mo ga ba ri masu! It's the little guys like you WHO ARE THE TRUE "GIANTS." Not to mention, all the children who are so brave in dealing with Moya & going through the surgeries. YES, and all the ADULTS, too! |

Hi Kotadad,
It's really a great story. I found that it is also very helpful as you described in details about what happened with Kota in each stage. Thank you so much. Ha |

Itsme,
Thank you for your post. I am so glad that you have contacted Stanford and made a big decision. You have a huge support on this site. I am looking forward to see you at Vegas, once everything is done. ;;D Ha, I hope you could get some useful info from this. Best wishes and good luck to you! :D Coadad |
