Title: Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! Post by itsme on Jul 3rd, 2005 at 1:40am
Dear All:
Itsme, thank you all for your support and prayers. Yes, it was my turn on 6/21st. I thought it was definitely harder than "labor" but thank God with all your "white light" my way, I woke up in ICU and not with the harps, playing in the back ground. I didn't expect nausea for three days after wards, but finally it passed and because of the steriods ( ONLY AN EXCUSE) I began to eat everything in sight, BUT food never tasted SO GOOD and WATER was the best thing I ever tasted in my whole life, thereafter! Currently, I do have a little set back and that is "my right ear" *did surgery on the right side* seems like it's clogged up and I can't hear~ The doctor told me NOT TO WORRY, that I will get my hearing back, hmmmmm??? Did any one run into this problem? If so, please let me know what you did and how long it took to get your hearing back to NORMAL? Any way, I can't wait to see all of you to thank you in person in August. I also want to say meeting Jill, Tara and Cotadad's family before the surgery was a Godsend. Thank you Jill and Tara for supporting me on the day I got my staples out. It was so OVERWHELMING when I realized this was it! I also met Melissa from Conneticut, who had the surgery the next day on the 22nd. She is also doing good and ready to go back. Not to mention, Stephanie's family from N. Carolina on the day of her surgery. According to Jill and Tara Stehpanie is doing good too. Any way, I will keep all of you posted and if I'm not on the board any time soon, please forgive me, I don't have access to email but will do my best to get on. Thank you again and I will continue to support all of you and others forever~ I made it because of all of you! Lots of Love, itsme email at my house. |

Thats a nice email. :) Know you're thrilled to get over some hurdles...more will always be ahead but if you have made it this far...you'll go even further. Do take it easy...as you might feel too good and over do then feel like sh__ for a few days...but thats normal, too. Cara's hearing loss (unknown to us) came back over a period of time. When the speech pathologist wanted her to have her hearing tested prior to speech therapy....we had it done at two locations (one at Phx Childrens Hosp Audiology and the other at the ENT doctors office..kept going back and forth as one said it was her left ear, the other said it was her right then back to verify it was really her right ear....but when they checked second time a month later they said wow...quite an improvement..we're not going to have her fitted for an hearing aid "yet" cuz..if her hearing continues to improve then an hearing aid be too much...so lets wait. I need to set an appointment up again soon to see if its improved even more. Even the hearing impaired teacher at her school said she doesn't "act" like an hearing impaired person....I said I know...cuz I am totally deaf myself...but anyway in Cara's case I would say six months that she seemed to hear well .... it varies from one person to another....we now think her hearing lost was stroke related...as her entire right side was affected..including right eye, arm , hand, leg, feet. The more she got back the more noticeable the little things were.
Anyway...so good to hear you are doing well, and you got to meet tons of people, too. Cara and I have yet to cross paths with another person with MM...hopefully in Las Vegas we will !!! Tight hugs, CarasMOM |

itsme,
glad to hear you're doing great. your doctor is right..don't worry about your ear. your ear is close to the area they probably operated on. thanks to people who have gone before us, and through providing supporting those after us, the healing process will go much smoother. i am now almost 6 weeks post-op and still have some blood in the area and numbness on my left side (surgery on my right side too), but my dr. said i should be okay... i too have got my appetitie back...(uh oh!) please keep us informed on your recovery...sounds like you're on the road to success! take care & God bless, SFH |

Hi Itsme -
Glad to hear everything went well. After my first surgery I felt like I had constant fluid in my one ear. I felt like I had ear muffs on! Well - I didn't lie fully back during the 2 weeks I was in the hospital - I mostly slept with my head slightly elevated. The first night I was at home, I lied fully back and when I woke up I was hearing like normal. Not sure if that is what you were experiencing.... But, glad you're back! Keep up the good work with your recovery! -Shari |

Hi Itsme!!!
Welcome back! Glad to hear you are doing so well. Kevin couldn't hear either after tsurgery on the right side (the first side done). He could finally hear. He actually could hear again just before surgery on the left side. [smiley=thumb.gif] It does come back!! Keep us posted on your progress Hugs, Lore |
