Title: Dr. Steinberg/Stanford Post by itsme on Jul 25th, 2005 at 1:49am
Dear friends,
I read about the ( The best Hospitals etc.) well, I only know what I went through and what I am going through. I just had my surgery one month ago with Dr. Steinberg and although Stanford might be rated #16th.....I felt I made the right choice for choosing Stanford for my MM. Yes, I went to Dr. Fukushima's web site and I know he may be as good as Dr. Steinberg but I know for a fact that Dr. Steinberg's hands and skills are nothing but a miracle. I would not let numbers confuse what is IMPORTANT. The important thing is WHO IS NUMBER ONE when it comes to MM? It's only been a month but "OH WHAT A DIFFERENCE!" My friend Melissa who had surgery one day after me was paralyzed on the left side ( stroke at age 7 ) and after 27 years she wiggled her toes and fingers on her left side, after surgery with Dr. Steinberg. She was also celebrating after one month WIGGLING HER TOES AND FINGERS! So my conclusion is, although Dr. Steinberg might have ran into some obstacles along the way, I am sure Dr.Fukushima had his share. The more patients you have I'm sure the more different situations you run into so it's no surprise. All I can say is I lived through his operation and for those thinking of having a by-pass or think you have MM, please go see Dr. Steinberg. You may be writing just like me on this web site. You came to the right place. He will save your life and have no doubt you have seen the BEST but the choice is yours. H & K. itsme |

Our family has no doubt that Dr. Steinberg saved our son's life. August marks the 5th anniversary of Brian's surgeries. He finished high school with honors, attends college, works full time, and has the most beautiful 13 month old daughter! We are truly blessed. We pray each day that the baby does not inherit this disease. I'm so glad that you and your friend are doing so well!

Dr. Steinberg is my hero, too :)
Daphne was sent home from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to die. Dr. Steinberg and Teresa gave us hope at a time when things seemed so hopeless. Daphne has done so well since her surgery - despite a recent breakthrough of her seizures (which - so far - have not seemed to impact her development *knock on wood*) On Friday, we took Daphne to the CHOP ER to get a CT Scan - per Dr. Steinberg's instruction - to make sure her previous epidural hematoma looked OK, and was not a possible cause of seizures (BTW - the scan looked good). While we were there, we were talking to the Neurology fellow, who said that there was a teenage MM patient in the ICU. She said that the girl's films looked a lot like Daphne's studies, and that she'd had her surgeries done at CHOP. The grafts had not taken, and now she was in very "bad shape". I have thought so much about that poor girl and her family since then. I feel so saddened about the situation they are in; but, at the same time, feel so very lucky that we still have Daphne with us. This is not to say anything bad about CHOP neurosurgery - at all. Every patient is different, and I obviously don't know much about the teenage girl at CHOP. I just feel blessed that we were able to find Dr. Steinberg and his wonderful team, and that they were able give our daughter another chance at life. Jenny |

I agree. I have been lucky to find Dr. Steinberg close to our home after I was diagnosed with MM. He is an angel. He takes time to answer your queries and concerns and makes you feel at home in his clinic. He has wonderful assistants in Joli and Theresa.
I have my surgery coming up in August first week and I feel I am very fortunate to have him at my side. |

Amraprobasi,
Good to hear that all is going well with you, and you're on the right track. You'll do just fine with your surgery... Although he wasn't my neurosurgeon, many members here are a testimony of Dr. Steingberg's miraculous talent. One of his patient's story (Daphne) really touched my heart....(http://www.daphnestory.com). You'll be in our thoughts and prayers... Please let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it.... We'll be here.... ;) Take care, Shan |
