Dr. Bernes at Phx Childrens Hosp has known Cara from day one...when she was a 2.5 year old.  He last saw her about a month after her second surgery when she was having "zillion" of TIA's !!!   He put her on Trileptal immediately...before her EEG...and 24 hour EEG....he never saw her again until today.

He walked in the waiting room with a student resident...totally shocked looking at Cara...trying to explain to this young new doctor Caras case...I was lipreading very hard seeing how he explained it to him.

He said it all took some time to come to conclusion to figure out what Cara had...we were so sure what she was having was MS related (he never mentioned that to us but knowing what MS is I can understand why)...but none of the tests showed any true signs of MS, nor any classic signs of MM.  He went on and on describing to this young man all the things Cara did...while he did ...Cara laughed and giggled and kept hugging Dr. Bernes, telling him "I am going to Las Vegas next week?"....He looked at me...GOSH...I have never seen her doing SO WELL...shes a completely different person..WOW.  I also told him we were meeting people with MM in Vegas...He thought that was great.

He is going to order a MRI and MRA...and get those off to Dr. Meyers in Rochester...and we'll just keep in touch on annual basis.  And if needed he'd be happy to prescribe more OT therapy.

I do recall Dr. Meyers telling me that it takes at least 18 months for a person to reach their maximum after a stroke...and Cara has had several....to give Cara lots of time.

It's so great to hear such heartwarming and uplifting stories such as this.  Cara is such an inspiration!  :D  Also sounds like Cara is ready to take the drive to Vegas!  I wish I could be there too...it's going to be awesome!  (May I suggest Hawaii for next year's get-together?...hee hee)  ;;D  "ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOHA!"

Wonderful!!! I can understand your joy at Cara's progress. My wife, Dee, is recovering well from her
Craniotomy with STA/MCA Bypass. Her symptoms have
lessened considerably and it is only four weeks since
her surgery by Dr. Eric Nussbaum. The hospital chaplain
told us that the doctor had "magic fingers". I believe him
