Hi.  Your first post is still on the list hasn't generate and new replies yet...so goes down the list as others add new topics or when an older post gets a new reply it comes back up.

While all of us aren't medical experts (doctors) we share from experience and unfortunately all of our experiences are different...may be some similiarities but the experience pre-operation and post-operation vary so much.  As with my daughters "300 plus TIA's" and your friends "violent outbursts"....scary for us.  

When Cara has a TIA she can't talk for  15 to 20 seconds, then comes back, slowly moves her mouth, relaxes and yawns...then is back to talking again but she is aware of it happening as she comes to me everytime it happens (hasn't had a spell since we left Vegas which is great).  Sounds like your friend's TIA's are deeper if she isn't aware of it happening.  Might take time for her to calm down as I'm guessing because when Cara was having so many within a day...she'd be a zombie by the end of the day, even drooling, ....over time (with trileptol) she had fewer and fewer TIA's.  The fewer she had, the less affected she was.  She didn't swear (prob wouldn't know that many words) but she did get angry or frustrated when she had too many TIA's.  

I have been on this board long enough and read all the back posts as I was trying to find someone who had similiar case like my Cara...I know I haven't seen anyone quite like your friend Lena's case either.  Like me I felt if I shared the worst...it may help someone else who is experiencing the same thing as Cara but afraid to come forward.

I trust Lena is in great hands and wondering if they are considering some type of anti-seizure medication to calm the symptoms down.  They may be checking all areas to be sure before doing that.   I think it was three weeks of many TIA's non stop for Cara before the doctor put her on Trileptal.

Will continue to pray for Lena.

Hi  thanks for the info and the well wishes...Lena has actually had two good days and is coming home from hospital.  I believe her episodes were due to an intolerance of Dilantin.  Come to find out when these episodes happened, they were mild, and they administered a large dose of dilantin, thinking they were seizures and they then became 100 times worst.  They took her off Dilantin yesterday morning, and she has been "episode" free now for over 24 hours.  She also feels like she is returning to her normal self.  Good luck to all of you and thanks again

That's great news!  Hopefully the rest of her recovery will be smooth and uneventful.  Please let Lena know she will remain in our prayers.

Great...was going to ask if she was on any medication as some kinds of medication really affected my dad more than others...so am SO GLAD they were able to pinpoint that....whew !!!!   Will keep her in my prayers as she recovers, gets stronger and moves on.  ;;D Carol

 Sounds like Lena is doing much better, however, if her symptoms return just thought I would ask if she was on any type of steriods..to reduce swelling in her brain.  I have heard that they are known to cause, even if rarely, psychotic behaviors.  I had a friend who warned me of this when I was on Prednisone a few years ago.  She said Prednisone made her mother go nuts!  
 Hopefully all will remain betterIt sounds like all is better.  You must be a very brave and devoted friend to stick by Lena through all this scary stuff.  Good luck to the both of you and take care,
