Hi Tom,
Today, Tuesday, Sept 6, 2005, the average price in Hawaii is $3.01. One gas station is selling Regular unleaded for $3.17 per gallon. As you may or may not already know, Hawaii has become the first state in the U.S. to set limits on wholesale gasoline prices. The state Public Utilities Commission is setting the wholesale price ceiling for gasoline in Honolulu at just under $2.16 a gallon. The law doesn't put a cap on retail prices. The State Public Utilities Commission had suggested the cap could actually increase the price of gasoline. Gas prices in Hawaii are the highest in the country, but they could be falling dramatically as a result of the law. [smiley=huh.gif] (personally not sure about that one... [smiley=twocents.gif]) If Hawaii's two refineries charge the maximum the cap allows, a gallon of regular at the pump next week with taxes and dealer mark up, prices could soar to at least $3.15. The governor has written to Chevron and Tesoro asking them not to push their wholesale prices to the maximum allowed. "My point in writing is the gas that they are going to be selling was refined from oil that they purchased long before this hurricane occurred," Gov. Linda Lingle said. Chevron would not say if it plans to charge the maximum allowed and Tesoro said it needs to review the governor's request. Hi everyone! I live in Pennsylvania. Gas went up to $3.47 here, but now it's down to $3.13. I used my MAC card today to buy gas. The pump stopped pumping at exactly $50. I thought it was just a coincidence until I started up my car and found out that I had only 3/4 of a tank of gas. My MAC card must pre-authorize up to $50 when purchasing at the pump, and then it just shuts off. The banks should increase their pre-authorization amount now that gas prices are so high.
Take care... |

Hi!
I live in Sweden where the gas is 6,24 per gallon so you guys are truly lucky over there! I have been counting back and forth in order to translate our liters to gallon and our crowns to dollars and this is where I end up every time - 6,24 dollars per gallon! Many years ago I lived in California as an exchange student and at that time the price was below half the price of gas in Sweden and it seems the comparison still stands! In this family we have two cars and four drivers license so itīs a tough issue around the dinner table :o Take care!!
