Title: Good News!
Post by Nancy_N. on Sep 9th, 2005 at 10:39am
I'm so happy we found a neurologist, actually a group of them at Emory hospital here in Ga. that are not only familiar with MM but she called herself a specailist. I know we need the proof but she said unfortunatley she has many MM patients which sadly enough was encouraging....does that make sense. The things she said all made sense and coinsided with what I knew so we were pretty pleased with our visit. Dr. Barrow the neurosurgeon is also there and has done MM surgerys so God for bid an emergency arise and something needed to be done quickly before I could get to Stanford Mandy would be in preety good hands I think. Although it would have to be a pretty big emergency for me not to get Mandy to Dr. Steinberg. It was alot of phone calls and searching because no one I called had any idea what I was talking about but the worse part was they didn't even want to listen, very frustrating as alot of you all know. Anyway it made my day yesterday.
Thanks for listening. [smiley=sayyes.gif]

That's great news, Nancy!  It will be very comforting to have someone you trust nearby, and I'll say my prayers that there won't ever be an emergency big enough for you to need to get back to Dr . S!

Way to go Nance!! I knew you'd find someone that you're comfortable with, you're very persistant that way...lol.. hehehe But most importantly, lemme know what Mandy thinks of her new doctors there, and also how she likes Georgia period?

I've read nothing but good things on here about Dr. Barrows, from "SCgirl" so I feel better too, but I've also heard doctors say alot of things that weren't necessarily true, so keep your eye on 'em girl...lol.. just kidding.

Thanks for keeping us posted, I'll sleep better now.

Love ya's
Mar

Hi Nancy,

So glad to hear you found someone you are comfortable with taking your Mandy to for MM treatment.  I must say I can relate to doctors not knowing what your even talking about when you say the words moyamoya.  Excellent on your part for your persistence and not settling for anything less than a MM specialist for Mandy.

I too hope you don't have an emergency that requires you taking Mandy 3,000 miles across country however, I know what you mean as I took Kevin almost 3,000 miles to be treated by Dr. Steinberg and would do it again in a heart beat.

Hugs to you and Mandy

Hi Nancy! ;;D

Just read your post and wanted to let you know that the entire Neurological staff at Emory is top notch, especially Dr. Barrow. You can go to "Surgeons With Bypass Experience" on this site, and scroll down to the bottom of page 1 and read all about my positive experiences at Emory.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and just know that you're in expert hands!

Hi Nancy!

So glad that you found a good team of doctors in Georgia for Mandy!  I know that takes a BIG weight off your shoulders.

I hope everything is going well for you and your family in Atlanta.  I'm sure you will have stories to share for all of us.  :)
