Title: I'm back from my mental break
Post by Greg-NJ1 on Sep 18th, 2005 at 3:20pm
Hi all,

Its been about three months since I've posted or even accessed the site. Well, after having a great 2nd half of summer, I'm back. Not that I did much of anything, except a week long camping trip to the Adirondack Mountains in NY. The fresh air was great...the relaxation was even better.

Now that I am emotionally ready to move forward with my diagnosis, I will be meeting with Dr. Dennis (my Neuro) to start all of the insurance BS to get the Cereberal Angio approved and scheduled.

A quick recap:
  - MRI/MRA showed revealed that the left coridid artery is smaller than the right
  - CT with Tracer, nothing conclusive but might be MM (anyone had issues with CT-Tracer showing results one way or the other)
  - TCD: Showed equal blood flow on both sides
  - SPECT scan: Results looked good, potentially one VERY VERY Minor area on the left side

Since my last post, I've been feeling pretty good most days. A little tiered as the week progresses, but a good catch up nap on Saturday has been working wonders.  And LUCKILY no attacks.

I hope you all had a great summer.
Greg

Welcome back, Greg!  Funny, I was thinking about you a few days ago, wondering how things were going for you.  I'm glad to hear you had a good summer, and pleased that you're feeling ready to move forward with your diagnostic process.

Good luck with your meeting with Dr. Dennis.  You know the questions to ask after reading up on MM!  Don't hesitate to come back here with questions, o.k.?  We'll look forward to an update when you have time to give one!

Hugs from out west,
Jill

EXCELLENT place to take a brain break - the Adirondacks!  I spent (not quite)a year up north and LOVE the Adirondacks.  Where abouts were you and what did you dew while you were there?  I spent most of my time in Tupper Lake/Lake Placid area, but grew up vacationing in the Adirondacks my whole life.   ;;D  Can you tell I like it there?

Take it light,

Dewski,

I too grew up in the Adirondack....as we camped in one of the many state parks at least a week every summer. To make it worse, I grew up in Albany and went to college in Potsdam, NY. Needless to say that there were four years of wonderful drives accross the Adirondack state park, only to be spoiled by 15 weeks a semester of living He$$ at college each semester.

The trip was great, went camping at Lake Luzerne State Park (sandwiched nicely between Lake George and Sacanadaga Lake (spelling???). Luckily, we went on one of the best weather weeks (upper 70's during the day and upper 50's at night). Lets see, we did the gammet of tourist stuff (seeing that I grew up on 50 miles away, never did them while I lived there)....lets see a day in Saratoga at the Harness Track....Fort Ticonderoga, Natural Stone Bridges and Caves (near Schroon Lake), a day or relaxation with my stepdad, horseback riding, and even the rodeo......hey, I did say it was action packed.

Unfortunately, not the vacation that I was hoping for (as I was original scheduled to go to Russia for 3 weeks, but do the preliminary MM diagnosis, we felt that it was better to stay closer to home).....yes, the Adirondacks are truly wonderful.....its amazing how a week in the mountains can change your outlook.

Regards,
Greg

As another New Yorker I have to say the Adirondacks are beautiful, especialy in the fall.Soooooo much to see and do.We vacation for at least a few days every summer at Lake George. We stay at the Fort William Henry. Has this  area been up for "bids for a Moyamoya reunion next year.Great relaxing place with lots to see and do in the spring, summer, and fall.Just a thought.......
