Title: Emily's Surgery :-) Post by Emily on Nov 17th, 2005 at 5:08pm
Just to let everyone know, Emily is alert, bright and chatty after her surgery yesterday. She had a direct bypass which doctors say went very well. Emily is a little tired and sore, but looking fantastic and in great spirits.
Emily is still in ICU, but hopefully she'll be moved to the ward by tomorrow. We'll pass on any of your messages to her, and thanks to everyone who has shown compassion and support towards her. We'll update as she progresses. :-) Emily's family: Mum Carolyn (cjonesy), sister Holly and best friend Em (pomem) |

Hi CJonesey, Em and Hollie,
Great news to hear that Emily is doing so well after surgery. I have heard great things about John Laidlaw and he operates out of the same hospital that my neurosurgeon came from. The worst is over and Emily can now look forward to getting on with things withoit the danger of something happening now. Pass on my best wishes to Emily and I look forward to hearing about Emily's progress. Love and hugs Moira (Perth W.A.) ;;D |

Oh, that's wonderful news! I know how anxious you all were, having been through the long waits for my daughter's two surgeries. It's a huge relief when the doctor comes out and gives a report, isn't it?
Please give Emily a big [smiley=thumbsup.gif] from her MM family, and hugs from way out west (California)! [smiley=heart.gif], Jill |

hey crew!!!!
well i'm back again, got discharged today (went in thursday, discharged monday - they don't muck around do they!!) all went pretty fast and well... i was actually up and walking (stairs!!) on the thursday night of my surgery... apparently i wouldn't shut up from the moment i came out of anesthetic.... and i kept claiming that they'd restored my sense of humour and making a lot of jokes that i thought were hilarious (i'm not sure they all agreed!) and then it was all pretty uneventful from then on.... stayed in the High Dependency Unit for a couple of days... then over to the neuro ward, where i set up my usual homely-coloured setup with flags and all sorts of colourful bits everywhere which everyone loved... AND the trusty old teddy-bear (yes they did often look twice at my date-of-birth! haha)... then out... was pretty swollen and yucky feeling yesterday, swelling's gone down a lot today and not much bruising... got to check out my scar today when they changed my dressing, pretty hard-core... bigger then i thought although they didn't shave off much hair... still i would have hated to have heavy dreads hanging off either side and pulling on the wound, and do still have to have to other side done in a couple of months.. (and i'm totally digging the pixi hair cut and my little curls!) anyway back to being horizontal for me, still have a bit of head pain (and a crew of people here waiting on me hand and foot - and that will only last so long!!) thanks for all the messages, mum passed them on.... will stay in touch xoxo |

thanks man :D
will definitely stay in touch bought a walking cane yesterday, the lack of balance has become a real problem (and a running joke), obviously due to swelling and stuff but i feel much steadier with the cane and it certainly makes people notice and wonder! (no i'm not an attention seeker!!! ;) ) heading out into the big bad world today to see the Gymnastics World Championships, woo..... xoxo |
