Title: what has helped me with MoyaMoya
Post by cheri on Nov 22nd, 2005 at 1:28pm
Just wanted to let MM people out there what has worked for me.  I started two years ago with antioxidant supplements.  Mainly OPC3 and B12.  My new MRI has showed no "new" damage or progression whatsoever.  My neurologist said "unbelievable".  My b12 was 240 for years and years.  Yesterday it was 560.
I know this is not a cure...but boy do I feel great since the supplements.  I have ovarian cancer, MM, macular degeneration, demelynating disease, depression,...now all gone or holding them at bay. But only since supplements.
No head aches, depression, vision problems, etc.  Has anyone else had good results with OPC3 or other supplements? Contact me...cheri4015@earthlink.net

Cheri,
What is OPC3 & what is it used for?  I'm sorry to hear of all your medical problems but it sounds like you're doing the best that you possibly can!!

For supplements I take B12, Vitamin C, folic acid, 2-3  capsules of fish oil, aspirin, calcium, and a multi-vitamin daily as well as several heart  & bp meds.  I recently bought COq10 but didn't start taking it yet.  I had my mm surgeries 8+ years ago & haven't been tested for the last 5 years but I feel great & never even get colds, or, if so, very mild.  I also have a myriad of chronic problems too, (major heart disease,  controlled HBP, arthritis, carpal tunnel, mm, right sided weakness) but I go  3X a week to a therapy pool to work out (1 - 2 hours) + walk up to 1 mile on a treadmill.    All I can do is try...... deb

Opc3 is a the most powerful antioxidant known to man.
Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins.   20 to 30 times more potent than vitamin c and E. Opc's are a member of the bioflavonoid family.  They effect the cells and molucules throughout the body...In a good way.  They are totally natural and are extracted from plant sorces such as grapes, cranberries, citrus fruits, and the bark of the pine tree.  Opc-3 fight free radical damage, protect collagen, help maintain healthy cholestral, support your CIRCULATORY system, meet nutritional needs, fight inflamation, support the immune system, maintain regular heatbeat, prevent DNA breakage, maintain normal Blood pressure and protect against cell damage.  We get free radicals just by living...in the food we eat, air we breath, drugs we take, exposure to ultra violet rays, alcohol, tabacco, radiation and generated within our own bodies. (such as from stress) Opc's apprehend, neutralizes, distroys, deactivate and prevent free radical damage.  This free radical damage is called oxidation stress. In the enviroment we see this as rotting of meats, hardening of rubber, browning of apples, rusting of metal.  In our bodies we see it as hardening of the arteries, premature aging, inflammation and diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, arthritis, and neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimers, MS and Parkinsons.  I would be glad to send anyone information.  My neurologist, cardiologist and oncologist have all said everything in this supplement is good for you, and have given it the "OK"!  They also said whatever your doing...keep doing it!!!!

hey cheri... thanks for that info, was interesting...

what sort of dosages do you take of those supplements?

i was reading a natural health book and stumbled upon Macular Degeneration.. i didn't know what it was so read on.... They reccomended TAURINE - which regenerates tissues in the retina - best taken in liquid of sublingual form for best assimilation or 500mg pills daily...
and Bilberry - to improve circulation to the retina..

thought you might find that interesting...

also for MM, and mostly for anyone not currantly on blood thinners, TOCOTRIENALS (50mg 3xdaily) act like blood thinners and help stop the formation of blood clots at the spot where an artery is clogged.... which i thought might interest some people.....

i'm taking enough prescribed drugs at the moment.... is anyone else here on anti-seizure medication? i'm on dilantin......
