Title: They figured it out. Post by Rena on Jan 21st, 2006 at 12:31am
Well it was nice while it lasted.
I went to the doctors a few months ago for headaches, dizzy spells, twitching limbs, and extreme tiredness. They did a MRI to rule out MM and it was nice to have that ruled out. They then discovered I had severe anemia, so they took blood for a lot of test to figure out why. Since I hadn't had an Echocardiogram in many years and I have a mitral valve prolaspe, they decided to do an Echo. Well I just found out that I need my mitral valve replaced. So it was nice thinking it was just an iron defincincy (sp?). Now I have to meet with a cardiosurgeon to find out when I get a new scar down my chest. |

Rena,
I'm sorry to hear your news, and didn't realize that replacing the mitral valve could even be done. (I, too, have mitral valve prolapse, so I'll have to remember that!) The good side is that we live in truly amazing times. The progress that's been made with medicine never ceases to amaze me, and I'm constantly grateful to live in a day and age when so many things can be treated! Nevertheless, I would imagine you're worried. Surgery is surgery, regardless of the "good" circumstances. Please keep us posted with whatever develops, and know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. [smiley=hug.gif], Jill |

Thanks Jill,
When I told Tyler he just took it in stride, after all he has been thru just as much if not more. I keep telling him I will be part robot now....lol. If your mitral valve prolaspe is genitic most likely you will never have problems, but if it's caused by Ruhmatic Fever it needs to be watched. Atleast that is the info I found on the net. |

Rena,
I was so sorry to hear about your health problem with the mitral valve replacement. I know that's got to be a very scary thing. But like your son's MM, you WILL get through it!!! God will certainly see you through this, too. I will be thinking about you and praying for you. Big hugs to both you and Tyler. Michelle |

Nothing, and I repeat nothing will keep you or hold you back from overcoming these obstacles. Continue to be strong (I know, it seems very difficult at times) for you and Tyler. We will continue to keep you and your family in our prayers. You are a very blessed and artistically talented person and have a lot to offer others...don't ever forget that. ;) Please keep us posted and know that we are here for you! Take care, Shan |

Well on the first visit to the cardiologist I was told I can wait till the summer for the surgery. But then my heart threw a blood clot to my lungs. So now I have another appointment on Tuesday. I hope they just get this fixed, I am tired of being tired!
