Title: Numbness
Post by itsme on Feb 9th, 2006 at 2:45am
Hi there~

I t's been 8 months since my right (side) surgery but I've been getting numb again on my right arm between my hands and elbow and right leg (calf area).

Has any one gotten this NUMB feeling even after the surgery??? OR IS IT PAR FOR THE COURSE?

Thanks for the heads up.....it's really annoying but I hope it's not a MM thing since I have MM on my left side
still and it's "on call" wishing I don't need to go back for
side 2.

Thanks again,
itsme

Hi Itsme,

If I am not wrong we talked through phone before your surgery. My surgery was a few days before yours and also on the right side.

I still have had numb feelings,  sometimes on my left hand, sometime on both hands. It happened occasionally when I woke up. I guess during my sleeps, less blood run up to my brain?

That worries me a bit as I don't have any occlusions on the left side but tiny MM vessels are already there. Eventhough at the moment we don't have any other treatments than surgeries for MMers who have occlussions in the arteries, I believe that there must be some mechanism to prevent the start of those occlusions. I am now working on myself to figure out what's happening inside my body, with living style and other practices. Will certainly let you know when I take the one-year check up in June.

Hope everything will be fine with you, itsme.

ha

Hi Ha,

Yes we talked and lets keep in touch. I'd like to know what you do for preventive measures. I hate the noises in my head sometimes...(blood flowing sounds) DO YOU GET THEM, TOO?  ALSO, please keep me posted on your check up in JUNE.

I hope our numbness is nothing to worry about, I hate to go through SURGERY again.

LOL,
irene

Irene,

I  also have the noise  when laying my head on the right side . What I did just to turn my head to other sides :).

It's hard trying not to worry about the numbness. As I know that worries don't help at all, I focus on finding a way to cure. I hate to go through a second surgery too, but I still have time to do something. Anyway, many people in this website have two surgeries.

Be positive!

Ha

Hi itsme!

I am sorry to hear you are having numbness on your right side. But, if you had the surgery on the right side, it would have helped the LEFT side of your body. So, if the numbness is on the right, it is the LEFT side of your brain where the problem is coming from.

Call your neurologist and make him aware you are having these right side symptoms, he may want to run some tests to see how things have progresed on your left side.

Hang in there!

-Sara

Sara is correct.  If you are having numbness on the right side of your body, it's definitely time to have the left side of your brain checked again!

Hope it all turns out ok!

Decent advise when speaking of recovering from recent surgery.  Very scary and dangerous advise when referring to new symptoms on an untreated side.

Thank you all for your "heads up." Yep...it could be the left side acting up. It's not fun BUT there is a "solution."

Every day is a GOOD DAY and I'm so glad I have all of you to confront my issues with.  We can only do what we have to do~

Lets all keep in touch.

LOL,
itsme

Tyler has complained a few times about his left hand feeling "funny" in the mornings. His yearly MRI shows everything is ok. He is going on his 3 year anniversary of his surgeries.

Let me know what you find out. I will keep you in my prayers.
