The one problem I know of is for young children who are taking asprin.Anyone under the age of 17 and on asprin therapy and suffering from a seriouse viruse such as the flu or chicken pox,are at risk of Reyes Syndrome.Heres a link you can check out.

i remember reading that some moyamoya cases had been linked with [caused by] a severe case of moyamoya.... which i thought was interesting..

i think this is a very interestingly worded statement:

The process of narrowing of the brain arteries seems to be a non-specific reaction of the brain's blood vessels to a wide variety of stimuli, injuries, or genetic defects.

i hadn't seen it described that way.. and it makes a lot of sense! basically each case would most likely be different, and there's probably no point in looking for generic "cures" and/or ways to predict the onset of MM... which i guess isn't good..... but interesting..

[eidt: haha.. in case it isn't half obvious, i'm rather interested in MM!!]

Hello Mary Grace
Thankyou for your help. I have rang Chloes consultant this morning and am waiting for a response.
I may have worded my email wrong, Thomas has got chicken pox (Chloes younger brother).

Jane, Has Chloe had the chicken pox yet or the vaccine? My daughter had the vaccine but when there was an outbreak at her school we tested her to see if she had the immunities to it ,she didn't, meaning that the vaccine didn't "take".I kept her out of school until the outbreak had faded because we would have ahd to take her off asprin if she got the Pox, and at the time it was dangerouse for ehr to go off asprin. She was only a few months out of surgery and not in very good health(she ahd had several strokes).the following year we had her re-vaccinated and tested again to be sure it worked.Good luck with the pox!

I was actually scheduled for my surgery when my little brother got the chicken pox. We rescheduled my surgery, I got chicken pox and I was fine. The chicken pox didn't affect me any differently that any other kid. But, I have never been on aspirin therapy, so there was no concern there. I would take Chloe off the aspirin until after she gets the pox and then gets better to avoid any problems, but ask her doctor..

Good Luck. I know it is scary when you don't know what to expect!

Hello
I have had such a hectic week what with Thomas having the chicken pox and going to hospital with Chloe for tests.
The blood results came back as Chloe is not immune, the consultants secratary said the Drs have discussed and they arnt going to do anything, infact she said they didnt know why i was worried ???
It was the consultant who told me of this on one of our appointments.  Anyway i asked my Dr if there was a vaccine and she said no ???  So dont really know who to listen to, she hasnt cought the pox, so hopefully she isnt going to.
Thanks for all your help
Jane (Confused Mummy).
