Title: Yassi's "Unique" Surgery- update Post by Runity on Apr 8th, 2006 at 11:27am
Hi Everyone, [smiley=hiya.gif]
An unique surgery for a unique young lady. I cannot thank DR. S and Teresa enough for what they did for me. Up until the moment of surgery Dr. S still did not know what he was going to do for me. Like I said in the beginning and I say it now. I have never been a normal person in anything that I have done in life. In this case I gave Dr. S a challenge and he gave me a second chance in life. I am not going to take my life for granted anymore. I am now more determined than ever to change my quality of life and live the "Unique" life God has given me. Dr. S did an amazing surgery to take my muscle that I use to chew my food and use it as a graft to fix my moyamoya disease instead of my omentum says alot about the compassion and love that he shows his patients. I have not seen a more humble, caring and loving surgeon in my life. Okay.. it gets on my nerves that it hurts to chew . But its a small price to pay to have LIFE!! So the name of this procedure is EMS. The "M" stands for muscle. How cool is that!!!! So thank you to Dr. Steinberg, Teresa, Jill, Tara, Campbell, Cass, Katie, Jon, Sara, Bill, Keith. The other doctors at Stanford and lets not forget the nurses on B3. I love you all!!!! I don't know how to repay you all for everything!!!!!!!!! [smiley=hug.gif] [smiley=heart.gif] Yassi |

Hi Yassi,
So glad to hear from you and to hear your amazing story. You sound so upbeat and positive. What a wonderful outlook you have on life. You're amazing. My brother is a patient of Dr. Steinberg and I thought he was a challenge for Dr. S. however, your story is quite unique. When Kevin was sent home by all other doctors to live out whatever life he had left, along came these two wonderful individuals; Dr. S and Teresa. It never ceases to amaze me what Dr. S can do and especially when I hear stories like yours. You hit it on the nose when you said that Dr. S is a caring, compasionate, loving and humble doctor. He and Teresa are both a gift from God. We are so very fortunate to have them both in our lives. Although it may be difficult to chew at the moment, in retrospect, it probably seems like a small price to pay for the gift of life. Keep that positive outlook and you will do well. Please keep us posted on your progress. Hugs, Lore |

Hey Yassi,
I'm so glad that you got a second chance at life and that you are slowly recovering well. Take as much rest as you can. And you are right on about the nurses on B3 - they don't get enough credit, they're awesome!! Hugs, Trina |

I concur, but Yassi...it's such a shame you didn't get to see Dr. Dodd!!!!!!
Trina and I will make sure to get one for you when we get to Stanford. ;) Michelle |

Dear Michelle and Trina,
Having a picture of this " handsome" doctor will help in my healing I am for sure. So that would be the greatest present a group of friends can give me. I then will make sure Dr. Dodd will be in the room for my Xenon , if I have one to hold my hand. If not then in my request 6 months ahead of time to Teresa for my arteriograph. Its hard to get me numb and maybe with his presence I wont need so much "Drugs". Thanks for helping me out, yassi [smiley=heart.gif] [smiley=sayyes.gif] |
