My name is cheryl nickname hummer and here is my story. in 2005 after my fiance had just had surgury on his head for an anerzium. a year later i found out i have moyamoya the day was may2005 at memorial hospital in gulfport ms. i went in for bad headach and what felt like a penched nerve in my neck. five days later i ran in the surgeon who did my fiance"s surgury and ask him if he could tell me what was wrong an angeo gram and an hour later he said MOYAMOYA!My heart sank i was so scareed and  all i could think of was i was going to die. and noone there insured me i wasnt.MY son is 7 years out and has autism and my 6 years old adhd, plus i have a wounderful 13 year old and i am all they have i was so scared of thinking i might leave them. Memerial Hospital refered me to dr melgar and he schel, suryury right away in NewOrleans then my surgury go delayed because of HURRICANE  KATERINEA . AND I was scared a again i new withiut this surgury i was going to die. we lost everything in the storm and still managed to make it to NEW ORLEANS ON JANUARY 25TH 2006 MY PARENTS KIDS AND FAMILY ALL WAITED on a couach and slept there 10 hour surgury pluse all night long we couldnt afford hotel stay at the time. and we are still struggleing to get on our feet and wait on the second surgury i pray i want need. but i am alive and thats what counts and my children have there mother.     My name is Elaine Calvert, I had my 1st (of MANY) Strokes in 1997 when I was 47,and because I had no insurance (my Brother loaned me two thousand dollars) to get my foot in the door at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida (I lived in Orlando) too make a long story short they let me keep having dozens of Strokes over the next year (no insurance DOES make a difference) After having a stroke on Christmas Day 1998 then another one on Dec. 26th they took me (by ambalance) from Orlando to Jacksonville and done my first surgery on New Years Eve 1998-99..........They tried to do a Brain Bypass (like a heart Bypass) But it didn't take so what was supose to be a 5-51/2 hour surgery took 13 hours..........My second surgery was in 2000 (in Orlando different Dr.) took 5 1/2 hours and I was home in 4 days and NO PAIN. :o Oh my!  You go through a lots, as a mother of 3 kids myself I know how hard that is for the thought of leaving them, I too have MM and just have left side done on Apr 7, when is your 2nd surgery schedule and where is it take?  Update to let me know, I, one time hear this saying:" Sometime you have alot of tear in your life but remember the smile will come, sometime it take longer than you want but remember, that smile will come".  I used that for me many time in my life and it work, so hang in there, you and your family are in my thought and prayer.

MELGAR IN JULYHe is going to check out verything and let me know if i have to have the sesond surgury, he seems to think there is a chance he might of took care of it.I AM GLAD YOU ARE DOING WELL.THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR THOUGHTS. :D ;)
