Hi, all!!

Ok, I know this may sound silly, but I need your help.

My 11 year old twin girls have MM.  I am about to teach them how to shave their legs, and I'm a little worried.  Since they take aspirin, I'm worried about bleeding when they cut themselves - Lord knows I had my share of "war wounds" when I first started shaving!

Is bleeding normally a problem for you all when you shave?  Does anyone have any tricks they can recommend?  Or, does anyone use something other than razors that you find works for you?  (The "who wears short shorts" Nair jingle is ringing in my head!)

Kristin,It's not such a silly question it really got me thinking I'd be asking the same thing probably if Kathleen was ready for that.(let's hope not for quite q while).I don't find that kathleen has any problems with bleeding excessivley when she gets a cut but those darn razor cuts can be pretty deep and take a long time for anyone to get it to stop bleeding.I would definatly try one of the hair remover creams first.There's actually one that comes with what looks like a razor but is just plastic(may make them feel like they're "shaving" but won't cut) You use it to scrape off the cream and it kind of gets closer.Ity also lasts longer,I do have to warn you it smells but they can actually do it in a room other than the bathroom(for a little better ventilation) My older daughter ahs sat on the Kitchen flloor doing it or her bedroom floor(no carpet).Good luck mom they're growing up!

That is not a silly question at all!!  My middle daughter has Down syndrome and has just turned fourteen so we are going through this right now...she is not taking aspirin but I still do not want her cutting her legs all up so we are trying an electric razor..we have tried that Nair on her under arms but it leaves a rash and it really does not get all the hair!  I actually have thought about seriously about that lazer hair removal but I do not know how expensive that is....Good Luck!!

I can understand your concern, so I would think an electric razor would be perfect. (If it's a good one) I have a lady remmington rechargeable that can go in the shower or bath also, and it does a great job with no rash or cuts. You just sit it in the rechargeable stand when you're done. That would solve all worries where that's concerned, I would think.

We're planning to go to Orlando in August, so I hope we'll get to meet you - and be sure to notice how smooth and shiny the     s' legs are!! ;)

Don't use Nair or anything like it!!!  Someone used that. You tan really bad within a minute of being in the sun afterwards and it gives lots of rashes.  Good luck!  

 Gosh I never thought about an electric razor,never used one myself and my legs have the scars to prove it LOL.I'll definatly keep that in mind for kathleen when the time comes.

Kristen I am glad to hear that you are going to be in Orlando in August with the girls..my family will be there also and I have three girls, 15, 14, and 11 so I am sure our girls will have fun together! Are you staying at the Coronada?  the pool looks like a blast!!!  I hope we can hook up while we are out there..good luck with the shaving I have all of mine there now!

Actually, we're not staying at the hotel - we have relatives that live about 30 mins away, so we're staying with them - it's the only way we could work the trip into the budget!!  :o  My     s, and their brother (age 10) are really excited to meet other MM families, so we definately should get together!  I can't wait!!

My daughter molly is going through the same thing she is 11 and will have her surgery on May 16, 2006 in Boston. I have spoken to Twins Mom on live chat and she helped me alot. For Molly we also use an electric razor. They even make them now that you can use in the shower. I just thought i would share that as well.

I am on Warfrin for my heart and have not had any problems with bleeding. It is stronger than asprin so I am thinking it your careful it shouldn't be a problem. However an electric rasor is probably the best bet, Nair can be harsh on young skin.

I will be getting a beard trimmer for Tyler, since he is afraid of razors, and will not shave if the electric razor pulls at all. Men have it so much easier, they can get away with a bit of stubble....LOL
