Title: getting pregnant?
Post by emma on May 15th, 2006 at 11:38pm
Hello All,

I have bought this issue up before as i am wanting to have another baby.
For those of you who replied to my last post, did you have to see a special Obstetrician who specialises in the brain or can i go the the last OBG i had before???

I am sooooo unsure of what do do as my Neuro says in is quite risky as i have high blood pressure and diabetes as well.

Help

Emma

Hey EM!!!! How  are you!!!
Well my obgyn had never heard of MM and she kept in very close contact with my neurologist and neurosurgeon, and I had to see specialists with difficult pregnancies. Mine was not difficult at all and I had to have a caesarean at the end but it was great to know that I was going to have to choose the time and date that Chad was born. You will have to have a caesarean as they won't allow any pressure on the brain.
As far as the diabetes goes they will be able to monitor that as they go so I wouldn't worry too much. If your doc wants to liase with my doc let me know and I will send you details - my neurosurgeon had no problem whatsoever with me having another baby and I also invited the anaesthetist who did my brain ops to come along for the caesarean, as you have to get different drugs to the norm
Hear from you soon

I was told that when I have a baby I will be considered a high-risk pregnancy.  There are doctors that specialize in high-risk pregnancies.  C-Section would be the method of delivery, but if I recall, there were others that posted that had a regular vaginal delivery.

My question is for those of us on Aspirin - is the aspirin continued throughout the pregnancy or do you have to stop taking it?

My experience was that my OB just talked with my nero and closely monitored me. I was considerd high risk. But the pregance was a breeze and I felt better than I do when I am not pregnant. I have never taken aspirin therapy, so I can't tell you if that would hae to be discontinued or not.

Also, I was allowed to birth vaginally. I had one that way 7 years ago and we were planning on the same thing with the last one but after I was 10 centimeters dialated, it was discovered my baby was breech. So, I had a C-Section.

Good luck with everything!

Thanks for that everyone.
When i had Amy in was on Cartia ( Asprin) during the whole preg, I think it is a special tablet that is safef for Preg. But I didn't have MM then, I think is was for my high blood pressure??

I'm seeing a high risk OB on Tues, so I will know a lot more them.

Thanks for your advise,
