Title: I'm Baaack!! Post by Janko on Jul 25th, 2006 at 4:38pm
Hi All,
It's been a while. I've been out of commission for a while. Just been so lazy. I'm finally back at work full-time. I take a lot of small breaks (like now) when I feel a little tired. It feels so good to be back, I really missed the guys I work with. We are going full-force here with lots of construction work in the future. Anyway, I was just dropping by to say [glb]"HELLO and thanks for the all the Support" [/glb]to everyone since I haven't really been on the site for a while!! Much Aloha, Jan |

That's wonderful!
You mentioned on my thread you had your surgery in April! You are barely 3 months post surgery......do take it slow and watch your body signals. Do you notice a big change in your health and former sx's? You also traveled to Dr Steinburg for your surgery. I am seriously considering doing the same. How was it to go so far away and do such a major surgery away from your supporting family and friends? Any good advise on the lodging issues for my hubby? well, congrats at getting your LIFE back and I wish you the best of health from here on! smiles, diane : ) |

Hi Diane,
I was fortunate enough to have met with Stanford's social worker, Michael Thomas. He helped me find lodging for my stay at Stanford. There's also a place on the message board where you can look. You may also try sending an e-mail to Dr. Steinberg to let him know ahead of time that you are sending your films. He will be in touch with you very soon about your films. To answer your questions about me going so far away. I had my mom with me. I did not want to travel so far away without any family member. My boyfriend couldn't make the trip and the next best person (whom I trust the most) was my mom. Next issue: Yes, I did notice a big difference after the surgeries. I no longer have slurring when I speak and my handwriting has gotten a lot better than it was before I had the surgeries. Thank for asking!! Aloha, Jan |

Aloha Jan,
today I went for my neuro consult with the big guru here at University Hosp. He confirmed mm and said instead of 75-80% occluded......I am more like 80-85% bi-latterally occluded. Hey, what's a little more amongst friends! He will meet and consult my case the the others. He said in the past 8 yrs they have had 11 patients with mm. They did surgery on 8 of the 11. He said that may seem small, but it is a lot considering this is very rare. Hmmmm......Dr Steinburg has done almost 350 over 20 years. I called dr steinburgs office just a few minutes ago and they confirmed the have received my films. I have a lot to think about.....but glad to have choices! Warm wishes...and smiles....diane : ) |
