Title: Hair loss???
Post by Runity on Jul 29th, 2006 at 10:07pm
Hi Everyone.  [smiley=huh.gif]  [smiley=huh.gif]

Since you all know I had surgery on March 15, 2006 and I am entering my 5th month in August of recovery. I am okay. On slight problem. I am losing alot of hair. I feel like  [smiley=huh.gif]I am going bald. Has any other person gone through this mess. I did not lose this much hair on my first surgery on my right side July 18, 2005. Can any one shed any light on this matter. I may need a hat soon. Will my hair grow back?

hope all is well,
yassi

Hi Yassi!

I am the mother of Louise, 10 years old who had her surgery in Sweden 3½ years ago. She has also lost a  lot of hair and is still doing it. First we thought it had anything to do with her changing medicine because that when it started (more than 2 years after her surgery the took her off Fragmin - shots of bloodthinners daily and put her on regular aspirin). I have also been in touch with Dr Scott in this matter but he had no suggestion of cause. The theory is that blood vessels have been removed from her scalp to perform an indirect bypass which caused poor blood supply to her hairroots.
It has improved but her hair is not nearly as thick as it used to be and probably never will be again.
Hope this partly answers your questions but keep asking; there is a lot of experience on this site and everybodys situation is unique.

Take care,

Annica

My husband was loosing a lot of hair before his surgery. I thought he was going bald, but since his surgery his hair has really grown back and is thick as when he was younger.

The person that cuts his hair said it is probably because of the good blood flow now. So I am surprised that you are actually losing yours???
