Hi All,

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and feeling really well.
It was a big dicission to make to have another baby and I am so glad I made the choice to have one. Once I saw that little baby on the scan I thought this is all worth it.

For those of you who don't know my story. Diagnosed with MM Oct 04, STA MCA bypass Dec 04, major stroke after surgery, 6 weeks in Rehab. EDMS ( I think that is what it is called- the musel transfer thingy)  July and Oct 05. And that is it in a nut shell.

It took me until Jan 06 to get back to work ( only one day a week), but i was too frightened to go back to work as my speech wasn't the best ( I work in a hopsital as a ward clerk) and deal with patients. But I over come that and I am now woring 3 days a week and I'm pregnant! I love working as I get to eat in peace as I have a very excited daughter (Amy), who is a bit too excited for me sometimes!!!

So for any of you out there who thinks it won't happen to you............think again. As when i had the stroke I thought it was all over ( in the child department and actually for my life itself) but now I couldn't be happier. It was a long road to recovery, and at time I didn't think I would get there, but them I just thought my Amy needs me and I will be there for her........just keep fighting, and I did.

After all my surgeries my hands were a bit tingly, and they are getting a bit that way now, but my Neuroligist says it OK, but if it gets worse come in and see him, but appart form that i'm feeling fantastic.

Thanks to everyone for giving me input on this really important manor. I think it made our decission easier.

Congratulations!!!! That's wonderful news.
When I was pregnant with Chad I found that my blood circulation increased (as it is supposed to do  with pregnancy normally) and it made me feel fantastic - no headaches and cold hands and feet!!
Just enjoy every minute as it is a wonderful experience and know that you are in the hands of very capable professionals who are not going to let ANYTHING happen to you!!!
You see I told you that life was fantastic after MM!!!

We are all so excited..........esp Amy who hounds me "When will it be born" "What's it name" and all things like that.

You said previously that people with MM need special anasthetic for a caesar? My Neuro said that is not the case. If so, can you please find out what you had and I will investigate it futher. It is going to be very long for Amy to have to wait.

My OB said that I will have to have it early ( 34-36 weeks) or just see how I go. It will definatley be a caesar, which I had with Amy, so I know all about that.

My family are all very nervous but I know everything is going to be fine.

Wonderful news, Emma!  Congratulations!  All right - so I'm with Amy! - when is the little bundle of joy due???

As for the anesthetic - I was told no forms of anesthetic that contain ephinephrine (I know I spelled that wrong!).

Shari, why nothing with EPI?  b/c it increases heart rate and blood pressure? Can it send the body into a fit?  maybe just with the baby and all.. they do tell us not to overdo it on caffeine which can play a similar role...

Thanks,  we are all so happy. I'm due early Feb (36 weeks), but I don't know if  I will make it that far as with Amy I got pre eclamsia at 33 weeks. If that happens again my DR won't mess around and just deliver me.......that will be fine with me.
I am having the baby just around the corner from the hopsital where I had all my surgeries so I feel happy with that.

I met with the anesthesiologists before I had Abigail per my neurologists advise but I am not sure what they did differently, if anything.

CONGRATS!!!! THAT'S GREAT NEWS!!!

Shari is right EPI is a Vasoconstrictor makes the vessels smaller, increases blood pressure etc.

I will have to check that drug, but he did say that there wasn't anything different than ( non MM people).

If it helps - my neurosurgeon told me that if I ever needed surgery, I did not need anything different to other people.
