That sounds like me!! I drive my family crazy with my constantly repeating questions that they have already answered me on..like I will ask my kids 2 or 3 times if they have any homework after school...or my husband will say that he told me something and I honestly do not remember him saying it..believe me we have almost had some battles over this! :P I think the memory lapses are common among us!! At least here I dont feel so dumb because I know alot of us here suffer from this! ;;D

don't worry, memory problems are common for a lot of us... i sure had a LOT of trouble...
but you just gotta work on it, keep notebooks and pens on you at all times - make it a routine.. and constantly jot things down.. make lists.. re-read the lists... and also avoid doing too many things at once.. if you're multi-tasking while trying to take information in, chances are the information will not be retained. |

I forget things a lot! People make fun of me or keep asking me why I ask the same question. My short term memory is the worst. Being a student doesn't help, especially when studying tough material that requires straight memorization. Way too much for me.

I think it's because of the Strokes, when I had a Stroke during my 1st surgery it effectided my memory and my emotions ( I have to write things down) ( But then I forget where I wrote it at ) THIS DRIVES ME ( and my family) CRAZY >:( If I had a nickle for every time I lay something down (then drive everyone NUTS trying to find it) Mostly Keys and Purse.....I have left my purse in grocery stores and in carts in parking lots....... :'( It is HARD but I guess you just have to learn to live with it :D

Kathleen,Emily, Ladybugz, and Elaine,
Thank you so much for your input at least Jeanette will know she's not alone. I'll also suggest keeping paper and pencil handy. She gets so discouraged when she goes to the Doctor and he'll ask whats been happening, she tells him and he just looks at her and says nothing. Sometimes she says why do I bother going at all. Thank God now she's going for conculing. Thank You Shirley |

Shirley~
and hello to all of you who responded. You all make me feel better! My piggy bank too is overflowing with the dims for everytime...... I had a stroke before surgery and another after surgery. Bad strokes which I've more or less come out of, BUT my memory is poor and I too go thru experiences like you've all writen about. It's so frustrating. My speech is affected because I can't remember words (and the words I forget magically change moment by moment!) . I forget what my husband and I have JUST talked about and agreed to.....Knowing that my memory is glitchy has helped avoid misunderstandings and bad feelings on both of our parts. Suggestions for memory boosters are all good. I try to write in my journal everyday. The physical act of writing helps place thoughts in my memory....So I take time to remember a lot of dopy things from my day, what I had for lunch, etc....gets me thinking and used to using memory. I also jot jot jot..... I was also told to 'chill out' and not toruqe out about finding words because that usually puts me in a forgetting tailspin!!!!! Thanks for helping me feel less alone. Hello~
Hope this helps. Check out Transiant Global Amnesia. I forgot to mention (!!!!) that I had a bout of this last May. I started asking my husband questions that I should have known. Like why there were books stacked by the couch, where did the coffee pot in the kitchen come from, and why was all that trash in the garbage area! Things I knew. I was walking and talking so he knew I wasn't stroking. I had no memory of eating dinner, or that a friend had arrived. This lasted about 3 minutes. Was a bit (A Lot) wierded out. Called doctor that evening, and had a neurological appt later. Again, I'm trying to chill, but that 'incident' but a damper on my confidence. Love to you all, Linda (LA) |

Hello all,
I have not been here in such a long time. In regards to the memory lost i am having issues with this. Sometimes my fiance will say something to me and by the end of the day i will totally forget it. He gets upset and thinks i am not paying attention to what he is saying. I try to tell him it is associated with moya moya and he thinks i am just making excuses. I will have him read the comments here and hopefully he will realize that i am not making it up and that i do have issues with this memory loss. Thanks |
