Hi Juliee:
My daughter Julie is in surgery as we type. We were told that the surgery is about 4 hours but adding prep time before and "defrosting" time after it all takes about 7 to 8 hours. Yesterday Jeana had her surgery and Dr. Steinberg came out to talk with her family about 7 hours after she went in. Not sure about recovery, but we were told Julie will be in the hospital for 3 days. And we're told she should be feeling like her normal self about then. I will keep you updated. But also, remember that Julie is only having surgery on one side. So her recovery time will probably be a lot shorter. Good luck with everything. Are you going to Stanford for your surgery? Smiles!! Cheri |

Julie is 15 and it looks like we will just miss you. If all goes well we will be leaving Dec. 2. She had her surgery today and we were told everything went great. She's not liking ICU very much because I can't stay with her all the time. But she should be in a regular room by tomorrow afternoon. She has been talking and laughing, so all seems well.
Good luck to you. Know that you will be in very good hands and the staff here is just wonderful. Take care Cheri |
