Is there any one who is taking coumadin and has MM?

My one nuro dr. says that coumadin doesn't work with MM cases.

Doesn't work in what sense?  As I understand it, Coumadin is a very strong blood thinner.  My brother was on it (doesn't have MM) for a while and he had his blood tested every week by a nurse while he was taking it.

My brother Kevin (Cubbie) has MM and was on Coumadin after he had his first stroke and was diagnosed with a dissected right upper internal carotid artery but before he was diagnosed with MM. While on Coumadin, my brother experienced multiple TIA's daily. Once off Coumadin, the TIA's ceased completely.

I'm not a doctor and I don't know specifically why or why not a MM patient should or should not take Coumadin. As Shari mentioned, Coumadin requires constant monitoring. Even without MM, Coumadin isn't for everyone and it wasn't for my brother. Since Kevin had his surgeries, he only takes aspirin.

I was on Coumadin after I had my stroke and was diagnosed with a dissected right upper internal carotid artery but before I was diagnosed with MM. Then they took me off emidetly(sp? right now) because they wanted to do the surgey. I hated the weekly vist to get my INR (blood thickness) level checked!!! I don't recomend unless you have to take it to take it. I only take asprin to thin my blood.

Why are they asking you to take coumadin, and not a higher dose of asprin?

This is Elaine's granddaughter I just wanted to let everyone know she fell and broke her foot, and had surgery and is now in a nursing home.
