Title: AVM in the news Senator Johnst Post by LA on Dec 20th, 2006 at 1:58pm
Hello everyone!
Since I've frequently been asked if Stn has 'the same thing you have?' , I figured many of you have been asked too. So here's one of the simplest explanations. As we all know, this is a very simple account, but it helped me in discussions, and as a starting point. The addresses listed are good too. We're all pioneers of abberant vessel deformation! Happy research --- I added te happy faces to highlight this part. Linda Arteriovenous Malformation of the Brain General Discussion :( :) :( :) Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a congenital defect in which arteries and veins are tangled and not connected by capillaries. The lack of capillaries allows blood traveling through the abnormal vessels to flow rapidly and under high pressure and prevents the nutrient rich blood in the arteries from reaching the tissues. AVM can occur in many different parts of the body, but those located in the brain, brainstem and spinal cord (neurological AVM) can affect the entire body.
