Title: Not receiving enough blood after surgery
Post by jcrump68 on Jan 17th, 2007 at 10:46am
I've had both of my surgeries, the second one will be a year in March.  I went to see my nuerologist on Jan. 2 this year 2007.  They did an angiogram in November of 2006. He says I'm still not getting enough blood to the front on my brain.  Is this a common thing?  I still have what I call spells not as many or as often, but they are still there.  The Dr. scheduled for me to see him in July, he thinks the blood will find it's way to the front.  If not, we'll have to talk to Dr. Tranmer about more surgery.  What can they do now?

Run to a doctor who will help you.  IMO waiting till July is absolutely not an option.  If I knew then what I know now, my sister would have a better life.  She was being seen by wait-and-see doctors.

Hi Jeanette,  [smiley=wave.gif]

Welcome to our MM family.

I’m sorry to hear you’re still having your spells and not getting the sufficient amount of blood to the front of the brain. I wish I had an answer for you, but we can’t answer your questions directly because we don’t know your specifics, like the type of surgery you had. (?) If you had the indirect surgery, it usually takes 6-12 months before new vessels (blood supply) can develop sufficiently. With the direct surgery, increased blood supply is immediate. So, I don’t know if your surgery was unsuccessful or if you simply need more time for the vessels to develop.

Are your doctors experienced with MMD? Meaning, are they experienced with the many different surgical approaches for MMD? That’s why we advise having a MM expert; they know the best approach for each individual case and less chance of additional surgeries or problems.

Again, like I said, we can’t begin to suggest what can be done now, unless we know your specifics. Every case is different because of each person’s individual factors involved.

I hope and pray you just need time, but if anyone is ever in doubt, we always advise to get a second opinion with a MM expert. You can always send your films to a MM specialist for their expert opinion. All the information is here on the website and we'd be happy to help you in any way we can.

You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Mar

Ditto....everything Mar said.

But meanwhile, I want to welcome you and so glad you found us.....there are wonderful fellow MM'ers here. Pull up a chair and stay a while.

smiles...Diane

I agree with janice - waiting until July is not an option,
Your doc also needs to have a more concrete plan than just "thinking" that the vessels "might" find their way to the front. You cannot afford to sit back and wait with this disease . Go and have another MRI/MRA and then discuss a plan of further action if it is not going to plan.
If Dr. Tranmer is an MM expert, I would be talking to him directly and demanding answers - not just a wait and see approach.
