Title: Illness and MM
Post by ladybugz on Feb 17th, 2007 at 8:57pm
I know I've asked before, but do people actuallly have more TIAs when they get sick? Or do they just feel really sick?  I felt slightly sick and then I also felt TIA symptomatic or weak on my weak side today.  Maybe it's the exhaustion the body is going through as it tries to heal itself.

I would say IMO not necessarily. Everyone is different in how MM affects them. I would say that if you are obviously still experiencing problems you should be consulting your specialists to see what is going on - You are  8 months post surgery and still experiencing problems and to me that would be ringing LOUD warning bells. I have also stated before that if I were you I would be changing my professionals to someone who was a lot more competant than the ones you are dealing with. I personally have never felt sick, never experienced the fatigue that others do etc so everyone is different. If you are still experiencing TIA's I would also be checking that out, as the whole purpose of surgery is to eliminate these symptoms as they can ultimately lead to stroke. It is your health ultimately and if you choose to do nothing about how you are feeling then you are going to have ongoing unresolved health issues.

I was just like you, if I'm ill it will be worst, and I have TIA also, and most every morning I woke up with my feet numb, if I have sinus infection I will have the killing pain behind my eye.  My surgeon said that it take time for blood vessels to grown to work, just let you know you not alone, I still go with it day by day basic.  If it to uncomfortable point you need to have it check it out. ( I did that, better be safe, we have go a long way, don't we 8) 8) 8) 8)
Take care and lots of hugs

Anybody taken cold medicine like alkaseltzer and had a TIA or problems? Or maybe it is just the illness or cold itself.

Alkaseltzer for colds? I always thought that that was for  stomach problems like heartburn and indigestion problems or hangovers! Colds shouldn't affect you any more than normal because you have MM! Surgery should have taken care of the majority of your issues
