Title: I'm in California with surgery on Tues Feb 26th Post by Reagan on Feb 23rd, 2008 at 9:13am
Well, my family and I flew in on Tuesday the 19th. I have completed my SPEC scan, MRI and angiogram. Lets not forget the neurosych evaluation. That was exhausting in itself. I think I was beginning to get a little irritable with that test by the 2 hour mark. We are off for the weekend. (a free two days with no testing). Of course it is raining out here and supposed to have strong winds this weeken. I've been able to meet Jill, and Teresa. They are wonderful. I did not have to have the Xenon scan because I am allergic to the component in Diamox. I have my TCD Monday morn and then get to meet with Dr. Steinberg. So far so good. Just very tiring. If you pray, keep me in your prayers. I am only having the left side done for I have unilateral MoyaMoya.
You can check updates at the following website: www.caringbridge.com/visit/reaganwilson Thank you for all of your support MoyaMoya family. I will talk with you soon after my surgery. Reagan |

Hi Reagan,
Glad to hear you made it to California and that you have completed the testing. I hope you enjoy your weekend and get to see all the lovely California Bay Area sites. Both Jill and Teresa are gems. You are in good hands with the king of moyamoya (Dr. Steinberg) and the entire moyamoya team. If you haven't met JoAnn, the "Doppler Lady", she too is a gem and she lights up a room. She is very special to my brother. In an effort to help ease your mind....my brother had both sides done at Stanford in May of 2005. Prior to Stanford and Dr. Steinberg, my brother went misdiagnosed for 4 years and had twp strokes and a dissected right upper internal carotid artery. If he can make it through all that and two surgeries back to back (one week apart) in his physical and mental condition at the time, I say anyone can do this. I'm happy to report my brother is doing extremely well thanks to Stanford, Dr. Steinberg, Teresa, JoAnn, Jill and the entire moyamoya team. They are all very special to both me and my brother. Clearly, Stanford gave my brother a second chance at life and we are eternally grateful. Keep a positive attitude and you will do fine. I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday and please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'll check the update link for your progress. Hugs, Lore |

Oh Reagan.....I will certainly be thinking of you! It was only 1 1/2 years ago when I was there at Stanford having both rt/left MCA-STA surgeries. The team is fantastic....I even loved the Anethesiologist! They are all so supportive. And....well eating your way through S.F. is almost worth the surgery (well...not quite)....but it was a treat!
You relax....trust in God....and that you are in the best place for your surgery (mine went flawlessly) Please keep us posted......(I will be checking your blog too) Diane : ) |

Hi Reagan,
I, too, was not able to do the Xenon scan, like you, I am allergic to the component in Diamox. It was definitely exhausting having all the different tests. For me, the trip in itself was extra tiring. I flew in from Hawaii and started testing on the second day. In April, it will be two years since my surgeries and I've been doing great!! Haven't had any adverse reactions and have been asymptomatic since. Jan |
