hi all, been a while since i've been active...

quick history:
age no 25.5 years, diagnosed with MM in october 2005, first stroke sept 2005, subsequent strokes sept 2005, to april 2006.
Left side sta-mca bypass (direct) november 2005\Right side direct bypass april 2006

now...
throughout most of 2006 and 2007 the only blood thinner i was on was aspirin, 150mg daily (plus verapmil for headaches, which i have since stopped)..... then towards the end of 2007 i started to get frequent "brain shakes" or "brain spins".. where for a VERY short time (micro-second)  it felt like my brain did a quick spin or shake inside my head.. then went away... kind of a disconcerting feeling... ended up going back on plavix (clopidogrel) , which i have now been back on for 4 months and feeling fantastic...
just wondering if anyone else has experienced these symptoms? very hard to explain/describe... like a shake, spin or even possible "swelling".. which lasts only a micro second..

doesn't feel like bleeding at all, as that is usually indicated by sharp pains.... perhaps a very very quick tia? or very very brief "struggle" for the blood to flow through a narrowed or MM vessel? or perhaps incredibly short seizures? i dunno.... hey are very quick but not very nice, and i am curious!

I am sorry to hear more discomfort. I have not exparienced what you described. I would call Dr.Stinberg and see what he thinks. Good luck finding out what that is. Your in my prayers

Hi Emily, I'm glad that you post it, I had what I think it same with what you decribed about 3 months now, since my treatment for ear infection.  I wonder if ear have any thing to do with it, it seem only second but i feel more like dizzy too, it more worse when i turn head so fast or look up fast( my husband keep joking that my head only halful so itshaked when i moved around ;)) i'm on aspirin 325mg a day, i have appt on march with my neuro, and i will email to ask my surgeon, any news i will let you know. Oh, and for that cousin of my in Australia, he doen't have MM, he just have a massive migrant headache all the time ;;D(that what he told me)

Hi Emily, my neuro said that it is related with the inner ears, so I have appt with ears, nose, and throat doctor, will post when i find out something.

Hi Emily, just update, i have seen ear doctor and he said that i have some fluid in my ear and that may cause the spell [smiley=huh.gif] and he start send me to have CTof the ear and balance test but i just deal with it rather than go to appt. i'm tired to see doctor. just that bit of information i hope it help.

Nice to see your message - I too have been inactive, yours was the first message I read.

Back in 2006, I had some similar episodes, was also placed on Plavix and have been "healthy" since.

You mention no doctor around - how far apart are your checkups with your neurosurgeon and neurologist?
(I am on yearly with neurologist and 5 yealy with neurosurgeon).

i was meant to be on 6 monthly checkups... but i moved interstate and am seeing a neurosurgeon (who i don't like much) yearly, yearly MRI's  and no neurologist.

yeah i think mine might have been blood pressure related, and before when on plavix for a longtime i have been aememic, might be again, got blood tests coming in.
how long have you been on plavix helene? i am going overseas next jan for at least 3 years, and dunno if i'll stay on it for the whole time or what..

My name is Pam and  I am 57 diagnosed  with MM  in January 2006 with a STA-MCA on my left side one week later, still waiting for the other shoe to fall (right side).

For most of my adult life I have heard my heartbeat in my ears. After my surgery it changed to a whoosh and sounds kinda like when you get an ultrasound on your baby.

About 6 months after my surgery when I stood up I would get a very fast  spinning sensation in my head (no sound)It has now progressed from a few to lots of them almost daily (really scary) It's a feeling of disorientation with a faint tinny drum sound, exactly like what you describe.

I have  lightly mentioned it to my MD with no results, just raised eyebrows when I announced that I was hearing things, I am so glad I saw your post I was beginning to think I was loosing it.

It never occurred to me that this might be connected I wonder what other strange things I can attribute to MM.

Well I guess its back to the doctor again.
