Hi Chinaya,

Thanks for the update on Butch.

I'm glad to hear Jill and Tara were with you.  I know from personal experience what a comfort they were to me when my brother was going through both surgeries at Stanford.  They are both a God send. Plus, Tara has been through the surgery so she can bring a patient perspective to the picture.

I too had the support of other Moyamoya families that were at Stanford at the same time and they were very supportive and I leaned on them a lot and especially the ones that had already had surgery but were there for follow-up.  I made many lasting friendships from those I met while at Stanford.

Dr. Steinberg will be out to speak with you once he has completed the surgery and give you specific information relating to Butch's surgery and increased blood flow and then Butch will go to ICU.

Hang in there and know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I can relate to the long days and I know it has been a long day for you already so I hope you all get some rest real soon.

Keep us posted and know we are here to support you through Butch's surgeries.

Hugs,

Lore

Hi Chinaya, i know how hard it is to waiting for surgery, sometime hospital have emergency surgery and we have to wait , and waiting for the love one in surgery is stressful too but Butch will be fine, I sure doctor Steinberg will talk to you as soon as he done, Jill is very nice, I have not meet her yet but we talk couple time on the phone, and it is wonderful to have her and Tara there, it is very comforting.  When I have surgery an moyamoya member said she will seat with my family but for some reason she not come, I'm very sad for that.  It's comfort and support when you have somebody in the same kind of illness to talk with.

Thank for the update on Butch, he in my thoughts and prayers, keep us posted.

Hi Chinaya,
Please let Butch know that his moyamoya family is rooting for him. Sounds like his surgery was very successful. Hope you can all take some time to catch up on your rest now. I can imagine how stressfull it must have been for you waiting - trust me, it's a lot easier being the patient. So take care of yourselves, best wishes to Butch and hope he has a great time between surgeries. You have good cause to celebrate.
Be sure to tell Butch to take time out to nap when he feels tired - rest is so very healing.
Kim

Hi Chinaya and Butch,

So glad everything went well with the first surgery.  The Stanford Team is amazing.   I know Butch will continue to do well and his second surgery will go just as well. Make sure he gets his rest and he will know what his limitations are.  Every day he will see improvement.   My husband is 3 and 4 weeks post surgery and is doing great.  His recovery is unbelievable.

Please keep us posted and know that we are all routing for you!!

Hi Chinaya and Butch
Today is the one year anniversary of my 2nd surgery and I am doing great.  The left side was a doozy for me, but everyone handles it differently.  My mom was there for me waiting and there was a delay in starting, cause they couldn't find me!!!  They thought I was in admitting, when in fact, I had never even left the hospital (I actually left for about 2 hours after the first surgery, but had to be readmitted due to a TIA - the last one I have had since completing both surgeries).

Anyway - hang in there.  Keep your chin up.  Attitude makes all of the difference in the world.  I will say a prayer for you and Butch and the surgical team (the best in the world).

Hugs
Sandi

Great news!  I'm glad Butch came out of surgery doing well.  Shane (my brother) and I have been praying for him hoping everything would go well.  Thank you for the update.  When you all get back to Virginia, we will have to meet since you all live so close.

Take care and a speedy recovery to Butch!

Michelle & Shane

Dear Chinaya and Butch -

Am SO glad to hear that the surgery went so well.  We have been praying for you both.  Am glad Jill and Tara were there for you.  THEY ARE THE BEST !!  I know, because they were there for us two-and-a-half years ago when Kate, my daughter, had her surgeries.  And it goes without saying that Dr. Steinberg, Theresa, etc. are the best.

Hope all continues well for you.  You are in my heart.

God Bless you both.

Cass, Kate and Jon in Texas

Good Morning Butch!

I see we're on line at the mm site at the same time. I've been keeping up with your Stanford visit, and your mm 'experience.

Glad you're surgery went well and that you're up and posting today.

I had my surgery in 1999 just before I turned 50.
The surgery saved my life ---

Keep on getting better!
My thoughts are with you.

Linda A.
