Title: we made it Post by Christie on Oct 28th, 2008 at 9:16pm
My daughter has been on this site many times and has introduced me to it also. It is a great site. Amy was diagnosed with mm sept 4 and here we are at Stanford. We got here yesterday and checked into our very nice apt. just across from the hosp. It goes by your income and you can stay as long as you need to. The bus situation isn't the best but we can't complain, we are just happy to finally be here. Tomorrow she starts with the Spect scan, and testing each day until the surg. Nov. 5 and Nov. 12 are surgery dates. Amy is on alot of medications and some that make her not very stable. My question to anyone out there and i do know everyone is different but are most people on alot of meds after surgery? Is there any routine meds? Well i will keep people posted as we go and hope i can answer questions about coming to Stanford. I think it is a great choice. Oh yea, my daughter is Amy1992,,, Christie

Hi Christie, [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] Welcome to our MM family.
Glad to hear you arrived safely. We've been waiting to hear whether things were going as planned. It's hard to say what meds she'll be on. Like you said, every case is different. The only routine medication after surgery I hear that many have in common is aspirin. Anything else is on a individual basis. Your daughter is a real fighter. She’s one that proved you have to stay aggressive and keep fighting to get the help needed for treatment. I’m very proud of her! She’s in great hands! They’re a great staff there at Stanford. They have the tests and procedures down to a science. So with her MM family keeping you both in our prayers and the best doctor in the world, you gotta feel confident. We’re right there with you in spirit. Please send her our best. Please keep us posted. Mar |

Has antone ever Fainted when getting an IV ?? I have litterly had around 100 IVs since 1997 following my 1st Stroke, I went today to get an MRI-MRA and as usual she had a hard time finding a vein so when she was done Roaming Around the 1st stick (pulling the needle in & out and going deep an all around) she finally deciced to pull the needle out to try the other arm--I told her I was going to faint (and I NEVER Faint) so she said hold your head back and I started to then went out--don't know how long I was out----But with smelling sauce I came to and was SOoooo Confused as to where I was & Who were thesese people putting stuff under my noise)( I think I was in shock) :'( I have NEVER Expencered anything like that before......Now I go back tomorrow for an angiogram at 6 AM and am a little scared since nothing like that has ever happened to me before,,,, :-/
