My daughter, Emily, had her two bypass surgeries in June 2008.  I noticed a few weeks ago that her eyebrows seem to protrude a little and she can't move her forehead!!!  She cannot lift her eyebrows at all.  I did call and email Teresa who said that this can happen.  As I was looking over the site I thought, "I wonder if this has happened to anyone else on here?"  I'm not panicked or anything just curious.  Teresa said that sometimes nerves are cut during the surgery and they will grow back very slowly over time.  I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this!!!

sometimes the side i had my strokes on, i sorta have that problem, my eyebrow wont move, but i can smile and do all my neuro test, i have my family test me, my mother is a nurse, she noticed when i had my first stroke i explained my symptoms and she said lets go to the er, you might be having mini strokes, and i had a stroked, so i trust her, if i get to worried to much feeling like i was then or any time i had problems, but to get to the point, i sorta have that problem, just keep an eye on her, ill pray for her and your family

Yes this has happened to me also.  Nerves regenerate at a very slow rate.  Depending on the severity of damage, about 1 inch per month. My left side surgery gave me eye lid droop (tsosis) also, which I had corrected somewhat by additional surgery.  I had my STA-MCA surgeries in Feb. 2006 and have some of the movement back but not very much.  My left side surgery involved cutting the temporal/mandibular area (closer to the eye socket) instead of temporal area, because of problems during that surgery.   So it was actually a double left sided surgery.  Dr Steinberg told me after the surgery that he thought I would rather have a visible scar and nerve damage, than a stroke.  I quess I have to agree with him.  So what if I only look surprised on the right side of my face..haha.  It is just one of the adverse effects from STA-MCA bypass surgery.  The adverse effects of the surgery is much better than the possible effects of not having it. Hopefully your daughter will do alright.....some excercise of the facial/forehead muscle will make controlling the forehead easier.  But untill the healing or regeneration is complete she will still have loss of sensation and movement.  Good Luck to you and your daughter, Emily.

Cheri thanks for the laugh!!  Emily has a good attitude about everything.  Once is awhile I will say, "Emily, BOO!"  She tries to look surprised but her eyes just get big.  :)  We weren't freaked out or anything after talking to Teresa but I'm on here all the time and thought I would put this out there so other people would know too!!!  :)  Thanks for the reply.
