Hello my name is Sonja. my daughter Megan is 5 years old she is going to gymnastics for over a month. So far she is been doing good no problems thank God. I am very worried that too much of flipping around cued give her TIA. I was wondering if anybody knows if they could do this kind of sports. Please let me now if anybody has any information.

I think all you need to do is watch Megan. Talk to her and see how she feels after she has preformed for a bit. Let her know if she starts to feel sick then stop untill she feels better. That is what I do when I am strenght training, and doing arobics. My nurologest said I can do anything that does not inviolve rough contact. and if I were to have things flying twards my head just remember If I get hit at the surgery sight I might get hurt bad.
I hope this helps. Becky |

Hi Sonja!
I had my left side operation in 2005 after suffering from 5 strokes. About a year later, I started playing roller derby. It's a full-contact sport on rollerskates. I wear a helmet and protection but non the less have still taken some pretty tough hits and falls. I haven't had any trouble or symtoms. And of course, I did ask Dr. Steinberg at Stanford if I could do this and he said he didn't see a problem with it. I just trust my body and if I don't feel good, I would stop. I think everyone recovers from their operations differently but you shouldn't have to give up doing what makes you happy, so long as you listen to your body. I hope that helps. Good luck to your daughter. Monica |

So which procedure did you have? I'm supposed to have one soon and trying to see about being able to play ice hockey again as a goalie.
I'd love to be able to play again. Glad to see that you're doing well. |
