Title: Updates on Samantha Post by giznot on May 27th, 2009 at 7:07pm
Well hello all. Hope everyhtings been going well with everyone. Just kinda wanted to update everyone on my GF Samantha. Been a while since I been on here bein busy with the kids and all but any way here goes...
Finally got the last copies of her records back after having to fight with the hospital for the past two weeks. We were told they were ready a week ago went to get them and they didnt have the images done. They tell us to come back but its around an hour drive so it isnt the easiest thing in the world but we had to go back today for our son's appt and we go to get the images and noone can figure out where they went. Luckily one of the women remembered us from the last time and took it upon herself to hunt them down. So it took a couple extra hours but overall, hey at least we got em and can send them out tonight. As for Sam herself still having tingling and numbness here and there but luckily nothing extremely major. She is sleepin more and more and I guess thats normal if your brain isnt getting blood there's no oxygen and bound to be tired right? Also she seems to be feeling nauseas alot and she doesnt have a cold or anything. Could be partly her nerves too I'd imagine...I know mine are shot. Anyway there's the update and good wishes to everyone. Thanx for all replies PS on another note I thought it may be helpful to know My son had an appt with his Nuerologist this morning for his yearly checkup from him having his prenatal stroke and we mentioned to him about Sam's moyamoya DX. He mentioned to us about studies finding certain people being predisposed to the disease and although I had heard of things like sickle-cell and cranial radiation possible being related he also mentioned Thalassemia which from what I understand is a certain type of anemia that primarily affects Italian and other Mediterranean ethnicities. Sam's family is a carrier of this disease and we found that to be interesting so hopefully it may help someone else out there as well. C Ya JIM |

Glad to hear you finally got the records you needed! Thanks for the extra information on other possible "connections." I have never heard of that one either!
God Bless Michele |

Hey Jim
Thanks for the update. I am Greek and when Luca was first diagnosed, her paediatrician looked into the thalassemia connection. Nothing came of it in Luca's case. Good luck and stay strong Mark (Luca's Dad) |
