Title: anyone who has had ablation of the uterus Post by Christie on Oct 30th, 2009 at 4:13pm
Many months ago i posted asking about anyone having heavy periods while on aspirin or blood thinners. I can't find that post where someone told me about ablation. My daughter has 2 periods a month and very heavy and i am trying to get her the procedure done. I explained to the Dr that others with MMD have had this procedure and they want me to see how that had worked out for them and if successful i guess anyway i am asking if anyone on here has had this procedure could you please email me and explain how it went? I am really hoping she can get this done soon,,thanks, Christie

I'de be very interested in hearing about this procedure also.My daughter is 12 and has Down syndrome and MM.She ahs no use of ehr left hand and not much of a cenception of what's happening to her body. Her period just started and is very unpredictable. It could be a very long time befoer she's independant in her sanitary needs.

I had the novasure procedure done last year about this time. I didn't have any trouble with the procedure, but it really didn't seem to help for me. It did decrease the amount of bleeding, but not the length of time which has gotten longer over time. So if excessive bleeding is the problem, this may be something to look into. For me the biggest issue has always been pain, which has actually gotten worse as I have gotten older. I have actually started having severe pain now when I ovulate as well which was not helped by the procedure. My gyn. told me that the procedure was about 90% effective. I don't regret having the procedure. It just didn't do for me what I had hoped it would.
I would caution that this procedure is only for those who do not intend to have children or who have already had their children as getting pregnant after this procedure can be very dangerous for the mother and the fetus as well. I would discuss benefits and risks with your doctor. Tracey |
