Hi all,
My 15 year old was perscribed diovan for hypertension today. her b/p was 180/98 :'(. this is her first high b/p. do drs perscribe meds that fast? or do they monitor for a few days? any info from someone taking this or with info from dr scott or steinburg would be greatly appreciated! :-/

I just heard from Dr.Scott,he said no :o molly should not be on b/p medication unless absolutely nessasary.He suggested monitering for a while. He wants her tested for renal artery stenosis as referenced by moms on this page. molly s b/p since being home has been 117/73. If i had followed her gps advice and gave her dioavan it could have killed her by lowering it too much and having no blood flow to the brain leading to a massive stroke >:(.

If her bp is that high then it would be needed. Im on bp meds and my bp doesnt drop to low. It shouldnt be either to high or too low.
