Hi everyone... still on a fact finding mission before my father has STA-MCA bypass in a few weeks with Dr. Oglivy in Boston... I have read many stories about people suffering from TIAs and or Ischemic strokes having successful recoveries after bypass surgery... but I haven't heard many stories of people who have suffered hemorrhages and then had a bypass. I am just wondering if there are any of you out there with hemorrhagic MM and if you could please share your story!! I know the evidence is inconclusive at this time regarding bypass surgery and hemorrhagic mm... but I would greatly appreciate any positive experiences to share with my Dad before he has his surgery. I'm not sure how many comparisons you can draw between your father and Luca, but her strokes were hemorrhagic and she is about 18 months post surgery and doing wonderfully.

Hello J,
I had a hemmoragic stroke at age 40. Had indirect bypass and am now 50 with no subsequent srokes. My stroke was not disabling. I think it will continue to go well and I hope the same for your dad.

My brother had a hemorrhagic stroke first, that started him on the Moya Moya journey. He had the surgeries and was fine for years, until an ischemic stroke killed him.
