Hello, my name is kim. I just found out my 5yr old son Joshua have MMD. I am trying to send e-mail to Dr. Scott in Boston and I did sent it through CHB website... I am not sure if he can get my message.... anyway here is the message that i write to Dr. Scott.

Hello, My son Joshua had a TIA in June 21. We went to ER(coral spring medical center) and did CT scan and X-Ray on neck, but Nothing came out. On July 1 We take him to different hospital(Broward general hospital) and did MRI, MRA, EEG, EEA, and ultra sound for the heart, it also came out negative. we got discharge on July 2nd. He start to have another stroke symptoms on July 5, 15, 23, Aug. 5, 7, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21. On Aug. 20 We take him to another hospital (miami children hospital) and did MRI and MRA again, this time they found out that my son have moyamoya disease. Doctor said Joshua will be ok with just asprin because the main vessels is not working but all the small vessels are place in spot working ok.... doctor don't think it is not necessary to have surgery on him, unless he have a bad stroke. (since his TIA's was about couple of minutes to 40 minutes than go away) Now my concern is that moyamoya is disease so it can go bad any time soon or since asprin can't fix the problem we just don't know when will bad things happen to my son.. Dr. Scott... I know you are the best doctor in moyamoya... Can you please look at my son and give me a 2nd opinion.  I just don't think asprin is not the answer and I really wants to fix this problem for my son ASAP.... Whenever mini stroke happened to my son our family just could not watch him suffering from it anymore...

I think Joshua should have angiogram done in boston and have a surgery at same time.(since we live far away from boston)

Dr. Scott is very wonderful! He reply me right away! I will send him a copy of Joshua's MRI and MRA CD over night today! God's willing I pray that my son will get over with this MMD!

Dr. Stephen Lewis at Shands Hospital (Univ. of Florida) in Gainesville performed surgery on my daughter in 2008.  If Boston is too far for you he may be an option.  He has worked with Dr. Steinberg and I highly recommend him. and his staff.  This address is for his assistant, Shanna, if you want to contact her.

Welcome to the board.  I'm sorry that you need to be here, but glad you found the group.
