Title: Update with Joshua's MMD
Post by JoshuaFather on Sep 7th, 2010 at 3:23pm
Hello everyone, I just want to update with Joshua's MMD journey. After we spoke with DR. Sandberg at Miami Children's Hospital we decide to have a surgery done in Miami. He was very confident and not many experience as DR. Scott in Boston but he did has MMD experience and so far he didn't have any complications. At first we weren't sure about DR. Sandberg but after having conversation with him we felt very comfortable. Anyway my son Jousha just had a surgery on his left side today and he is doing great! Thank you guys for wonderful informations about this MMD and your  prayers. I will keep update with Joshua's MMD journey.

P.S. DR. Sandberg is a wonderful doctor!

Good man Josh! And well done to the doctors involved. Just don't be too frightened by the swelling, it will go down.

Keep us updated and stay strong.

What a great update. I bet Josh is glad 2 be going home. He can rest much better there. My daughter had her surgery done by a non MM Dr. & we have no regrets. If u ever had a question his Dr. Can't answer you can always email 1 of the specialists. That what we have 2 do & it has been helpful. We will pray for Joshua and your family. Keep us posted. Also wondered how old he is? Danielle

Josh came home this morning at 11am and so far he is doing great except he is complaining about his right side of knee. I'm not sure if it is hurt because he was so excited that he was running around the house or because we didn't give him a pain medicine. We stop give him pain medicine since last night because he didn't complin any pain but I just start give him at 4:30pm. I hope this is nothing. It is so hard to control a 5 year old boy that tell him don't running around and drink a lots of water. Once again thank you for your kind reply and I will keep update.

I will pray for him and myself the same time. I have moyamoya too and will have to take surgery (don't know if I need one or two so far). I am 35 and I am still so scared about it. God bless us.

Hello group!
It has been more than 6 months after Joshua's surgery. Joshua had a MRI for 6 months check up and thank God, the surgery went really well and he is doing great! My wife and I are wondering if we can give him an aspirin once every two days... Even though doctor told us to give him everyday, we are concerned that taking aspirin everyday would not be good for his health other than thinning blood. Does anyone here taking an aspirin every two days, skip sometimes or even not taking it at all??

JoshuaFather,
I was told to take the 81mg of aspirin a day, but I have forgotten to take it allot, so I brought this up to my neurologist. He told me that I should be taking my aspirin but hinted there are foods like garlic, cyane (SP?) pepper that are natural blood thinners, and I should make meals that contain those items to help if I forget. He reminded me the 81mg aspirin works better then the diet.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. Everyone MM is different and the MM specialist neurologist should be advised on all blood thinning criterias.

I hope this helped,
Becky

We were told to take children's coated aspirin so it doesn't hurt the stomach lining.
