My daughter had unilateral surgery to correct her artery on her left side of her brain. Her surgery was over four years ago. She is now 8 years old. The other day her left arm and leg went numb on her for about 15 minutes. Has anyone had Moyamoya spread to the other side of their brain after many years have passed? Her neurologist is having a MRI scheduled just to make sure the Moyamoya vessels are not spreading to the right side of her brain.

I could be wrong but my understanding is that because it is progressive it can show up on the side that was good years later. My daughter gets a CT angio to check her left side (she had surgery on the right 2 years ago) just in case it is affecting it. She has it scheduled for next week and she's nervous because she's also been having some mild numbness. We aren't sure if it's TIA's or medication causing it.
