Hello,  I'm 5 years post surgery, but my symptoms seem to have returned.  Dizzy when talking long periods of times from oxygen loss to brain.
Hot flashes, cold flashes due to hormonal changes and sensitivity caused by the MM. I have no access to medical care. 

What are my options and has this happened to anyone else?

I'm sorry to hear you are having symptoms (sp) again.  My daughter is almost 6 years post op and has started having issues again.  I'll keep you in my prayers!

There are no free clinics anywhere you can access?  I think you do need to see a doctor.  That would be my only responsible suggestion to you.  (Take it easy in the mean time!).

I'm not sure if your surgery was with Dr. Steinberg or Dr. Scott but we've had great support from Dr. Steinberg's office via email and phone.  We live in the Washington DC area and although there are plenty of competent options in the area, we just felt more comfortable dealing with Dr. Steinberg's office if at all possible.   I've had his office send prescriptions for medication and MRI's via email/fax for my daughter.

Thanks! I had a surgeon in another state perform the operation (not necessary a specialist in this field), although I would have preferred someone else. I have no insurance or funds to support seeing the doctor.  I will give it a shot and just contact them. My condition grows more serious and I have to live my life despite it!!

Sorry to hear about your returning symptoms. I just recently had both sides, STA-MCA bypasses, 6-17-2010 and 11-4-2010. I was feeling fine after recovery time from both surgeries until last Friday.  While at work I experienced what I was having 10 years prior of being diagnosed with MM. I began to get wavy lines in the lower quadrant of my left eye. It made it dificult to focus and I couldn't read either. this lasted for about a half hour.When my vision cleared I then started to get an intense headache in my right temporal area and behind my right eye. I immediately took (2) 325 asprins with a lot of water and a sandwich to protect my stomach linining.  I struggled through the rest of the day at work. Upon arriving home I informed my wife what had happened and she insisted I call and speak with someone in Dr. Rasmussen's office. I described the day's event to his PA and was told to stay hydrated and report any other events. Friday evening after dinner I became nauseated and vomitted several time into early Sat. morning.  I slept throughout the day and started to feel better although I still had a slight headache. I slept on and off Sat. night and decided to get up around 8 A.M. Sunday. I was just starting to enjoy a cup of coffee with my wife when it happened again, wavy lines in my left eye followed by a bright yellow aura with a hole in the center that eventually closed up. My wife and I were devastated. How could this be happening again ? I took a hot shower but that did not help my intense headache that followed. We decided to go to our local ER as we live about an hour and a half from Cleveland.  I was seen immediately at the ER. The triage nurse thought maybe I was having a stroke. I told her and showed her my recent scars and she was shocked as she had never seen that befor. I went on about MM and told her what the surgeries involved. I later went over the story again as the ER Dr. saw me. Never heard of MM,imagine that!  I explained my symptoms and he said it is just a headache and gave me morphine for pain(Thank God) and something for nausea. I was later given a CT scan without dye that came back OK  for bleeds or blockages but noted bilateral temporal craniotomy defects. I wonder why? I was sent home and told to see my PCP for release to go back to work.  Called office and he was not in today.  Will try and squeeze me in tomorrow. Called Dr. Rasmussen's office again and talked to PA again after he spoke to Dr. Keep hydrated and when I think I may get overheated (excesssive sweating ) drink even more H2O. I work in a Steel Mill around red hot steel at times and such was the situation last Fri. So I guess I will drink until I am bloated and wait for my scheduled SPECT scan in Cleveland in May unles I have another "episode." Everyone Stay Strong !

Hello,  My bi-lateral surgeries were 6 years ago and I still have TIA's (numbness/tingling) intermittently and daily headaches.  I have had several MRIs/MRAs that do not show changes, but we know something is going on.
