Title: Moyamoya treatment in Europe Post by Erlend on Jan 24th, 2011 at 9:20am
Hi there. My 10 years old daughter has just been diagnozed with bilateral Moyamoya. It started with an TIA just after christmas. Here in Norway the Neurosurgeons have not much experience when it comes to treating Moyamoya surgical. So we hope for an operation somewhere abroad, perhaps Europe. Where in Europe is the best hospital for treating Moyamoya for kids?
Hope for answers! Erlend, from Melhus (Norway) |

Hi Erlend
I'm sorry to hear of you daughters diagnosis, it's not an easy time for your family, especially your daughter. The place to start would be at the link below, it's a list of surgeons with experience in treating moyamoya: http://www.moyamoya.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=surgeons_board I'm not sure about Europe, but I know there are a few in the UK. Luca had her surgery in Newcastle in the UK. Good luck and keep us posted Mark (Luca's Dad) |

Hi Erlend -
Sorry you had the need to find us - but I'm glad you did so we can offer support. I've heard of several kids having surgery in London- Great Ormond Stree Hospital (GOSH), I think it is. Hope this helps. Mark put you on the right path with the link he provided. Good luck! -Shari |

Hi Erlend,
I'm reading old posts, and I am quite sure I'm coming late with the reply... but in case it helps. We're from Denmark and we're going to Berlin (Charite Hospital) for surgery. They perform around 50 surgeries a year... so I think they see cases on a regular basis. The doctor we have been talking with there is called Nils Hecht. Let me know if you would like their contact details, or you have found some other options. Kr, Ayelén |
